Job Description - Dive Center Reception Manager

Job Purpose:

  • The Dive Center Reception Manager is a site-based position. The Dive Center Reception Manager is the first impression many guests will have of the Dive Center at the asset. This first impression is crucial in delivering a high quality visitor experience.
  • The Dive Center Reception Manager will need to be a 'people' person with an understanding of scuba diving and scuba diving courses.
  • The Dive Center Reception Manager will be tasked with the administration of the dive center, as well as the retail outlet of the dive center. Organization is essential to deliver on this role.

Job Responsibilities:

General

  • Reporting directly to the Dive Center Manager, assist in the smooth running of the dive center of the asset.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in the development of other dive centers at other assets.
  • Maintain a professional appearance of the dive center.
  • Ensure all sales are conducted in a professional manner.
  • Work remotely and visit office as and when required.

Establishment of Dive Center: Pre-Opening

  • Work alongside the Dive Center Manager to develop and deliver the dive centre and necessary components.
  • Working alongside and supporting all RSG departments during Delivery stage to ensure targets are achieved, operational phasing is initiated when required and projects are delivered as designed.
  • Become familiar with the retail products in stock.
  • Become familiar with the diving and dive sites in the area.
  • Become familiar with the PADI products (courses) on offer, this includes understanding the required materials, paperwork and standards (ie prerequisites, age) necessary for specific courses.

Establishment of Dive Center: Post-Opening

  • All activities conducted from the Dive Center are conducted in a professional manner.
  • Assist dive crew to ensure all daily diving activities are conducted in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure up to date and accurate records are kept pertaining to retail activities.
  • Plan and direct the day-to-day operations of a retail outlet according to company policy.
  • Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability to achieve financial goals.
  • Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.
  • Daily attention to ethical business practises, safety, cleanliness, company appearance and uniform standards, and approved environmental practises at location, elevating significant issues to the Dive Center Manager.
  • Ensure retail products and displays are merchandized effectively to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and the public.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records and preparing orders from suppliers.
  • Assisting divers/students with course registration and/or rental equipment.
  • Taking bookings and answering questions about courses/dive destinations.
  • The Dive Center Reception Manger is often the link between divers/students and the Dive Team.
  • Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
  • Adopt and follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure the dive center operates in a controlled and consistent manner.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Experience

  • Hospitality track record
  • Proven sales record
  • Knowledge of the dive industry's concepts, practices and procedures
  • Dive retail

Essential Skills

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • Excellent communicator and public talking
  • Has an aptitude and aspiration for outstanding customer service with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Flexible and open-minded approach to environment and tasks
  • Ability to self-motivate and deliver to agreed deadlines
  • A working knowledge of diving, allowing for delivery of a 'wow' experience
  • A working knowledge of dive equipment in regard to retail
  • Good time-keeping
  • Social media experience
  • Excellent salesperson

  • Guest experience oriented, social personality
  • Able to work with different cultures and nationalities
  • Ability to handle high-end clientele, superior level of customer service
  • Effectively manage guests' requests and complaints

  • Able to work in a dive resort environment and follow professional grooming standards
  • Able to work both as part of a team and independently, and exercises sound judgment and discretion
  • Demonstrate the utmost confidentiality at all times
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Has an interest in and an ability to build a solid understanding of marine science, research, conservation and education
  • Ability to deliver a magical guest experience
  • Able to assist with dive center administration and planning

Desirable Skills

  • Spoken language other than English (preferably Arabic)
  • Dive business background-track record as evidence
  • Diving health & safety experience
  • Diving track record in various geographic locations
  • Marine conservation interest/background
  • Fit to Dive Medical Marine life identification abilities (fish, invertebrates, reptiles and mammals)
