Merchandiser (DPL - )

As a Merchandiser specializing in Food within the Scoop Wholefoods division, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient management of our merchandise supply chain. Your responsibilities will encompass order placement, negotiation, inventory management, pricing strategy, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, the operations team, and finance to maintain optimal stock levels, uphold quality standards, and drive sales through effective merchandising strategies.

This job will require a 3-4 weeks on-site training in Singapore before becoming fully remote. All expenses on food, accommodations, and flights shall be shouldered by the company.

Responsibilities

• Place orders with overseas suppliers, ensuring timely negotiation and finalization.
• Utilize OTB (Open-To-Buy) strategy to manage inventory levels effectively.
• Generate and analyze sell-through reports to inform future orders.
• Review and create new SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) on SAP and POS systems.
• Develop pricing strategies and coordinate marketing and visual merchandising efforts.
• Collaborate with operations and store teams to prepare for stock arrivals.
• Manage purchase orders and coordinate shipping with suppliers and the supply chain team.
• Allocate goods prior to arrival and submit payments to finance.
• Ensure compliance with best-before dates and manage product expiry.
• Place orders with Scoop Australia and other main suppliers, adhering to established procedures.
• Conduct market analysis and research for new products.
• Manage critical operations machinery such as the Nut Butter machine.
• Oversee merchandise management tasks including labeling, MSDS compliance, and packaging materials.
• Manage article codes, defectives, discrepancies, and expiry issues, including processing credit notes.
• Review inventory and sales reports, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities.
• Coordinate product training and ensure popular items are consistently stocked.
• Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, promotions, and product feedback.
• Coordinate with logistics and shipping to ensure timely deliveries.
• Facilitate inter-store transfers and ensure product safety and quality standards are met.
• Coordinate lab testing for products as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in merchandising or procurement, preferably in the food industry.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proficiency in SAP and POS systems, with experience in SKU management.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards for food imports and compliance requirements.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of merchandising strategies and retail operations.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
• Certification in food safety or quality management is a plus.
• Strong interest in food and consumer products is a must.
