Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing and TOS Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience with Athena, our electronic health records (EHR) and practice management system, and will be proficient in calculating time of service payments for our patients. This part-time role involves a range of billing responsibilities, with a special focus on handling and calculating payments at the time of service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Medical Billing: Process and manage patient billing information accurately using Athena EHR.

• Time of Service (TOS) Payments: Accurately calculate and process payments at the time of service, ensuring patients are billed correctly.

• Claims Management: Submit and follow up on insurance claims, verify patient insurance coverage, and handle claim rejections.

• Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding their billing inquiries and payment options.

• Reporting: Generate and review financial reports related to billing and collections.

• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local billing regulations and guidelines.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience with Athena EHR and practice management systems.

• Skills: Strong understanding of medical billing procedures, insurance claims, and TOS payment calculations.

• Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare providers.

• Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using various office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve billing discrepancies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification: Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CPB).

• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
