Job Description - Part-Time Bookkeeper (015 - 652)

Job Role: Bookkeeper

Compensation range: $1,000 AUD - $1,300 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule:

This role is expected to require roughly 20 hours per week. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your schedule, but availability for occasional collaboration during AU business hours is preferred.

Who The Client Is:

A Brisbane-based accounting and advisory team, supporting a select group of small businesses and entrepreneurs with practical financial guidance. The firm focuses on making bookkeeping, tax, and business management straightforward, helping clients confidently grow their operations without being bogged down by complex compliance requirements. Known for a hands-on and collaborative approach, the team works closely with clients year-round to provide clear, actionable advice that makes managing a business simpler and more sustainable.

Role Overview:

The business is looking for a reliable bookkeeper to take care of day-to-day bookkeeping for its growing clients. It’s a part-time role (around 20 hours per week) with flexible hours. You’ll mainly work behind the scenes, keeping in touch with clients through email and WhatsApp, so you can focus on what you do best.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for clients using Xero and MYOB
  • Communicate with clients via email and WhatsApp to gather required documents
  • Assist with BAS/IAS preparation and financial reporting as needed
  • 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Proficient in Xero; MYOB experience is a plus
  • Strong written English for client communication
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn (training provided)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience preparing BAS and IAS (Australian tax knowledge)
  • Familiarity with Australian accounting and tax practices
  • Previous experience supporting an accounting or tax practice

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that may be set up as either an independent contractor engagement or via an Employer of Record (EOR), depending on client preferences and legal structure.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST or PHT] business hours
  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor” if not employed via EOR)
