Associate Manager, Finance

Responsibilities:

Planning
• Lead all aspects of financial planning through close coordination with Cost Center Owners, Budget owners and Functional leads:
- Prepare AOP and Fs review material to be used by functional lead or Region during planning cycle
- Facilitate Zero Base Budget approach during planning
- Work with cost center owners to collect projects for ICP and provide support for input in the system
• Prepare financial plan, submit and maintain financial data in the following systems: Hyperion (Internal, External and Infrastructure Expenses), Staffing Application (Headcount) and OTL (Time allocation of FTEs)
• Coordinate the preparation of templates and slide decks for monthly reporting and annual business plans
• Partnership with Regional Business Planning to provide support to cost center owners
• Lead the creation of the narrative about investment execution
• Participate in budget and team meetings in order to drive planning
• Overall process optimization

Reporting & Cost and Headcount Control
• Monthly reporting to head of function, cost center owner and budget owner (cost tracker and financial cockpit)
• Monthly Update of Cost Center Report on WD5
• Variance analysis and explanation for each cost center
• Provide transactional details on a PO / Project level to help budget owners to track and trace their investments
• HC reporting on Act vs. Planned Headcount and tracking of open positions
• Finance contact/business partner for the cost centers
• Provide financial and accounting guidance on Chart of Account
• Maintain, control and continuously improve reporting

Headcount Governance
• Plan HC for the cost centers in line with Regional Business Planning guidance (Gross HC, Net HC and vacancy rate)
• Ensure both for planning and actual that headcounts are coded to proper cost center, liaise with HR and or Regional Business Planning to solve issues
• Maintain headcount tracking sheet on a monthly base

PO Governance
• Assists budget owner in the PO process by providing accounting instructions and by advising if expense is within budget
• Perform sanity and budget checks on purchase orders
• Act as the finance approver in PO approval chain as per corporate procurement policy

Month-end Close
• PO reports preparations to be sent to cost center owners in order to do PO receipts and review open PO reports at each month end close
• Provide input to International Controller of the Region with input for Flux Call (explanation of variances vs. plan of deviations of Act vs. plan)
• Provide to GBS information for non-PO accruals related to one off costs (e.g. severance)

Compliance and Ethical Standards
• Job holder must respect internal rules and all rules based on the respective legal and ethical standards. Any safety related information concerning Biogen products (adverse event / suspicion on adverse event etc.) must report to the Affiliate Safety Designated Staff in accordance with current internal company rules. Any quality related information concerning Biogen products (product complaints / product defects / suspicion on product defects / falsified medicinal products etc.) must reports directly to the Manager, Quality & Governance in accordance with current internal company rules.

• Min. 3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Experience in biotech industry strongly desired
• Excellent knowledge of reporting tools
• Solid experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Hyperion or comparable systems) and Office tools
• Strong fin

The Associate Manager Finance Swiss HQ is responsible for the planning and controlling of Swiss HQ cost centers that roll up in the P&L of Europe, Canada and International Partner Markets (IPM) region.

Role includes planning, reporting and month end close activities of specific cost centers, as well as, business partnership to provide cost centers managers and functional lead visibility and support to manage investments. OPEX and HC are in scope.
