Job Description - Designer

Controls engineer is responsible for the electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic as well as logics engineering portion of Valmet new equipment. This position requires good cooperation skills with close environment (team members, mechanical engineers, workshop staff) as well as with representatives of external companies (suppliers, outsourced staff) and Customer.

The controls engineer strives to meet the various, position specific needs of the project by managing documentation, participating in FATs, commissioning, testing and start-ups for the hardware and software while also maintaining standards.

Documents are created and developed in Eplan and DraftSight (ACAD) and managed in PDM.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Create electrical, pneumatic and logic diagrams for PLC/DCS.

  • Create electrical and pneumatic cabinet drawings and Bill of Material.

  • Timely completing engineering activities with respect to delivery time, hourly budget and the target cost.

  • Support mechanical and process engineering teams in solution selection.

  • Support sales team by answering controls engineering questions.

  • Support purchasing team if needed to evaluate suppliers and brands.

  • Support customer service team on controls replacement parts for obsolescence.  

  • Resolve the controls non-conformities identified at suppliers or Valmet processes.

  • Participate in design reviews with customers.

  • Participate in FAT of software and hardware.

  • Participate in commissioning, testing and starting up of equipment.

What do we expect from you?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar.

  • Min. 2 - 3 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Knowledge of Hydraulic and Lubrication Systems.

  • Project management skills.

  • Proficiency in Polish and English. Other languages are an asset.

  • Ability to travel when necessary to supplier site for FAT of equipment (up to 10%).

  • Ability to travel when necessary to customer site for design review, commissioning and start-up of equipment (up to 10%).

  • Self-motivated, engaged, innovative, passionate individual.

  • Comfortable working with diverse cross functional teams.

  • Ability to prioritize and work through busy schedules.

  • Analytical process skills regarding projects.

  • Experience with general root cause analysis and rapid problem solving.

  • Experience with Eplan is additional advantage.
