Job Title\n\nDirector, Global Food Safety (f/m/d)\n\nHealth, Nutrition \u0026 Care (HNC)\n\nJob Location \nFlexible \u2013 HNC manufacturing location in Europe (Poland preferred) or the US (hybrid working model)\n\n* * *\n\nYour role\n\nAs Director, Global Food Safety for our Health, Nutrition \u0026 Care (HNC) business unit, you will safeguard consumers, customers, and business continuity by defining, governing, and continuously strengthening a robust global Food Safety Management System.\n\nYou will provide visible, expert leadership across a global manufacturing network of more than 20 sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and GFSI\u2011recognized schemes, embedding right\u2011first\u2011time operations, and fostering a strong, risk\u2011based food safety culture across Operations, Innovation, and Quality.\n\nYour leadership will position Food Safety as a strategic enabler and competitive differentiator, strengthening customer trust in highly regulated segments such as Early Life Nutrition, Dietary Supplements and Medical Nutrition, while supporting sustainable and profitable business growth.\n\n* * *\n\nYour key responsibilities\n\n * Define, drive, and continuously improve the HNC Food Safety strategy, aligned with Group Product Protection and Global Quality frameworks\n * Act as the global food safety authority and trusted advisor to Operations, Innovation, Engineering, and senior leadership\n * Govern and strengthen global food safety, microbiological, hygiene, and contaminants management standards across HNC\n * Lead harmonized, risk\u2011based assessments (HACCP, environmental monitoring, vulnerability and contamination risk assessments)\n * Track, analyze, and transparently report global food safety performance using meaningful KPIs and trend insights\n * Lead or support investigations of food safety incidents, ensuring robust root cause analysis, effective CAPAs, and systematic learning\n * Strengthen food safety crisis preparedness and provide expert support during incidents\n * Embed food safety and quality\u2011by\u2011design principles throughout innovation and scale\u2011up activities\n * Build organizational capability through training, coaching, and global expert networks, fostering a strong food safety culture\n\n\n\n* * *\n\nYou bring\n\n * University degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline \n * 10+ years of professional experience, with strong senior\u2011level expertise in food safety and quality management\n * Proven experience in highly regulated environments, ideally including Early Life Nutrition, medical nutrition, dietary supplements, or pharma\u2011adjacent industries\n * Deep knowledge of GFSI\u2011recognized FSMS (e.g. FSSC 22000), HACCP, FSMA/HARPC, and global regulatory expectations\n * Strong expertise in microbiological risk management, environmental monitoring, and contamination investigations\n * Demonstrated ability to lead global, cross\u2011functional programs in complex, matrixed organizations\n * Strong leadership, influence, and change\u2011management capabilities\n * Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage\n\n\n\n* * *\n\nWe offer\n\n * A highly visible, strategic leadership role with direct impact on consumer safety and customer trust\n * The opportunity to shape and elevate global food safety standards across a diverse, international business\n * A collaborative, purpose\u2011driven environment powered by science and innovation\n * Continuous learning, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference\n\n\n\n* * *\n\nAbout dsm-firmenich\n\nAt dsm-firmenich, we don\u2019t just meet expectations \u2013 we go beyond them.\n\nJoin our global team powered by science, creativity, and a shared purpose: to bring progress to life. \n \n\n\nFrom elevating health to making fortified food and sustainable skincare, the impact of your work here will be felt by millions \u2013 every single day.
