The role

The Europe Customs Specialist supports the effective and compliant execution of customs operations across European flows by applying approved trade compliance requirements in day-to-day logistics activities. The role helps translate customs governance into practical operational steps, contributing to audit readiness, special procedures execution, and smooth implementation of business changes.

Working closely with Senior Specialists and functional Leads, the role supports continuity across plants, warehouses, and logistics partners, helping reduce disruption and variability in customs processes and ensuring reliable execution across the European network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day customs execution across European flows by applying approved compliance requirements in operational processes.

  • Operate assigned customs controls and support adherence across plants, warehouses, and logistics partners.

  • Resolve routine customs execution issues (e.g. documentation gaps, clearance questions, process deviations) and escalate more complex cases to Senior Specialists or Leads as required.

  • Support the execution of special procedures by following defined operational steps and ensuring required evidence and records are completed and retained.

  • Assist with compliance assurance activities and audit preparation, including evidence collection and issue followup.

  • Support business changes by contributing to customs operational readiness for new flows, sites, suppliers, or processes.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and supporting updates to SOPs, work instructions, and standard practices.

  • Setting up customs related process for newly implemented transport lanes,

  • Self-processing of customs (Cora AP) as a second level of approval

  • Supporting business on Intrastat reporting

  • Manage relations with customs brokers and Transport Team

  • Preferential origin check, and requesting of LTSD

  • Provide supporting documentation for Classification of the goods and origin definition; supervision on duty rates applied 

We're looking for someone who has:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.

  • 2+ years’ experience in customs, trade compliance, or international logistics within a European import/export environment.

  • Hands‑on experience supporting daily customs execution and issue resolution

  • Basic working knowledge of EU customs procedures, Incoterms, and related documentation requirements.

  • Understanding of how tariff classification, origin, and valuation impact customs declarations

  • Familiarity with ERP and trade compliance systems.

  • Fluent in English; additional European languages (e.g. German) are a plus

  • Strong execution and attention to detail, with reliable follow‑through.

  • Practical problemsolving skills and willingness to escalate when appropriate.

  • Ability to work effectively with operations teams, logistics partners, and brokers under guidance.

  • Clear communicator, able to follow and apply standard processes and instructions.

  • Structured and process‑oriented mindset with a growing understanding of customs risk and compliance.

  • Exposure to FMCG, food, temperature‑controlled, or regulated supply chains is an advantage.
