Field Sales Representative – EMEA East Automotive Advanced Functional Materials (m/f/x)

 

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Field Sales Representative for the EMEA East Automotive Market, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

In this role, you will focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities across automotive applications, with a particular emphasis on Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers in chassis, steering, e-powertrain, and body-in-white segments. You will also support revenue growth across the Glass Bubbles and Friction Shims product lines by driving customer engagement, application development, and opportunity conversion.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Identifying and winning new customers across the automotive supplier landscape, with a strong focus on Tier-1 and Tier-2 accounts.
• Delivering revenue growth through cross-selling and portfolio expansion across Glass Bubbles and Friction Shims product lines.
• Recovering lost sales and re-engaging lapsed accounts through targeted outreach, structured follow-up, and opportunity development.
• Leveraging factory visits and on-site customer interactions to uncover new business opportunities and build strong customer relationships.
• Advising customers on product solutions and their potential use across a broad range of automotive applications.
• Identifying new application opportunities in close collaboration with customers’ engineering and technical teams.
• Partnering with Application Engineering on sampling, testing, qualification, and specification processes.
• Presenting 3M solutions at OEM Tech Days, customer seminars, industry events, and technical customer meetings.
• Executing territory and opportunity action plans to deliver quarterly and annual sales growth.
• Managing the sales pipeline effectively by maintaining clear next steps, deadlines, opportunity stages, and conversion evidence in Salesforce.
• Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and technology developments across the assigned region.
• Capturing and communicating customer, market, and competitive insights to support broader business strategy.
• Collaborating closely with the EMEA Account Manager, Application Engineering, Global Product Management, and other cross-functional partners.
• Sharing knowledge and best practices across the EMEA sales team to support continuous improvement and business growth.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s of Master’s degree in Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Technology, or a comparable technical discipline combined with relevant professional experience.
• Experience in sales, business development, account management, technical sales, or application development, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Ability to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities into measurable revenue.
• Experience working with technical products, customer specifications, sampling, testing, or qualification processes.
• Experience using CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, to manage pipeline, opportunity stages, next actions, and sales reporting.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Czech, Slovak, Polish, or Hungarian.

 

Additional knowledge, nice-to-have skills, or preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Strong understanding of automotive supplier networks, ideally including Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers.
• Solid understanding of automotive manufacturing processes (body shop, chassis assembly, powertrain)
• Knowledge of automotive applications such as chassis, steering, e-powertrain, and body-in-white.
• Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, product management, and commercial teams in a matrix environment.
• Strong market awareness and ability to identify white spots, emerging opportunities, and competitive threats.
• Proactive, structured, and results-oriented working style.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence without direct authority.

Job specifics

• Location: Czech Republic or Slovakia or Hungary or Poland.
• Sales territory: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland.
• Travel expectations: Travel may require approx. 70% of working time domestic/international.
• Work arrangement: Remote (field based)
• Working pattern: Full time.
• Relocation: Not authorized.
• Compensation: Remuneration details – Total Cash Compensation – only for Slovakia: 2900 – 4000 EUR gross per month

These levels reflect 3M’s established compensation/pay structure for this position. The final level and corresponding base salary offered will depend on the candidate’s relevant knowledge, certifications, skills, and experience.

The Total Cash Compensation for this role is structured as 70% base monthly salary and 30% Sales Incentive Bonus, with the Sales Incentive Bonus paid on a quarterly basis, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions.

In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits.
