As the Head of Discipline, you will be responsible for developing Water and Environment team of experts located in Wrocław along with providing technical expertise on customer projects. You will provide functional leadership, set discipline direction and standards, and enable effective delivery through project teams.


A key component of your work will be to enable, promote, and grow collaboration across COWI by building relationships and trust with key stakeholders within the COWI network, as well as other Head of Disciplines.


Furthermore, on a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Contribute to projects using your subject expertise.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of the department's strategy, action, and growth plan.
  • Perform day-to-day people management for the discipline's employees including weekly timesheet follow up, monthly overtime follow-up, checking hours allocation, operating local and global time registration systems etc.
  • Give guidance and support to discipline's employees by promoting collaboration and providing continuous and objective feedback.
  • Be responsible for employees’ technical and professional development, organizing IDD’s and quarterly follow up along with setting clear targets for competency & performance development and employee engagement for discipline's employees.
  • Provide close support to the Head of Engineering in ongoing resource management, in collaboration with BL Heads of Projects, Project Managers and Resource Managers.
  • Supporting enrolment of organisational changes on the discipline level.
  • Collaborate with Head of Engineering, Managing Director and HR Business Partner on topics such as recruitment, promotions, salary review and terminations.
  • Promote employee engagement and help build a culture of inclusion and diversity within the discipline group.

On top of that, you have:

  • Master's degree in environmental or civil engineering or related specialization with at least 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both short- and long-term resource management.
  • Experience in inspiring people and teams to perform at a high level.
  • Flexibility to travel on short business trips abroad for up to 2 weeks and a few times per year.
  • Fluency in the English language both written and verbal.
