You'll join the Platform team that powers IG's product engineering in UK – owning shared services, infrastructure, and frontend capabilities.
We champion engineering excellence and continuously evolve our platform, so product-aligned teams can focus obsessively on customers and commercial outcomes.
Your work will increase the impact of every engineer building for our clients.
Your primary responsibility will be to partner with Product and Engineering to drive a culture of best-practice ATDD within the team. You will act as a hands-on practitioner, leading by example, but also as a coach and guide for others in the team.
You'll embrace AI-assisted tools to accelerate test creation, identify patterns, and focus human expertise on exploratory and creative quality work. You will develop a deep understanding of IG's trading products and become an advocate for our customers' experience within the Product/Engineering space.
Write acceptance test criteria from both a product/functional perspective and an operational monitoring & alerting perspective, ensuring these are implemented by engineers as part of the Definition of Done
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to deliver seamless user experiences that champion the client
Advocate and embody modern engineering practices such as ATDD, driving continuous improvement and raising the bar across the team
Act as enabler for automated testing in the dev team: setup test environment, create tooling and libraries, improve it further
Collate Business Acceptance Test programs for new products and features, ensuring we deliver at pace without compromising quality
Mentor and support team members in ATDD practices through pairing and knowledge-sharing, fostering a collaborative learning environment
Champion AI-assisted testing approaches – from AI-generated test cases to intelligent test selection – helping the team automate intelligently while focusing human effort on high-value exploratory work
You WON'T do repetitive regression testing. We automate that.
For this role, we're looking for someone with:
Experience leading adoption of QA practices across engineering teams
Ability working hands-on with engineers – pairing, reviewing, and demonstrating quality techniques in real delivery context
Experience collaborating with Product Owners and Engineers to build acceptance criteria and test scenarios before code is written
Track record of enabling teams to become self-sufficient in quality practices
Strong background evaluating and implementing automation tools and frameworks
Experience measuring and communicating the impact of quality improvements through clear metrics
Experience with AI-assisted development and testing tools is expected – we're looking for quality professionals who see AI as a force multiplier, not a threat
Deep understanding and experience of various types of tests for an always-available, customer-facing trading platform
Understanding and experience in modern iterative engineering, how tests fit in and don't slow down deployments or create toil over time
Strong hands-on experience of ATDD and/or BDD methodologies
Excellent problem-solving skills with a quality-oriented, ownership mindset
AI-positive mindset – you see AI tools as amplifiers of quality engineering capability, not replacements, and you're excited to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI-assisted testing and development
Strong English-language communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
A keen interest in ongoing learning, both business and technical – you will be expected to gain a deep understanding of IG's trading business
Experience coaching or mentoring engineers in quality practices (formal or informal) This is a hybrid position (3 days onsite, 2 days remote work)
