Job Description - Lead Unity Engineer (Mobile Games)
Type: Full time - Remote
Location: Remote - Europe (Serbia, Poland, Romania, Hungary, or Bulgaria preferred).
Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Unity Engineer (Mobile F2P Games) to drive the technical development and architecture of our live-service mobile titles.
The Lead Engineer is both a hands-on developer and a technical leader, responsible for shaping architecture, guiding engineering execution, and ensuring the team can build scalable live-service games.
This role works closely with product and design leadership to translate ambitious product goals into practical technical solutions.
Engineers on our team operate as generalists, contributing across gameplay systems, UI, and live-service infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Define and evolve the technical architecture for scalable mobile game development
Design systems that support rapid iteration, live operations, and ongoing content updates
Remain a hands-on contributor implementing complex gameplay systems in Unity and C#
Break down product and design goals into practical technical solutions
Mentor engineers and provide guidance through code reviews and technical discussions
Establish engineering standards, workflows, and development best practices
Collaborate closely with product, design, and art leadership
Ensure strong performance, stability, and scalability across mobile devices
Guide integration of backend services and third-party tools
Required
7+ years professional game development or Unity engineering experience
5+ years developing games using Unity and C#
Experience shipping mobile free-to-play games with live-service updates or events
Strong experience designing game architecture and scalable systems
Experience leading engineering initiatives or mentoring engineers
Strong knowledge of Unity including scripting, animation systems, UI, and asset integration
Experience optimizing performance, memory usage, and build size for mobile devices
Proficient with version control systems such as Git
Strong written and spoken English communication skills (required for collaboration with a global team)
Preferred
Experience building live-service pipelines and content systems
Experience integrating backend services and cloud infrastructure
Familiarity with modern software architecture and design patterns
Experience working with animation systems, physics systems, or particle effects
Bonus Skills
Experience managing or mentoring engineering teams
Experience supporting large-scale live operations
Experience improving development pipelines and engineering workflows
AI & Development Tools
Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools
Strong interest in adopting AI-driven development workflows
Contribute directly to live-service mobile games from development through launch and ongoing live operations
