Solution Architect

Role and Responsibilities

As a Solution Architect, you will be a technical leader and visionary in our Innovation Tribe. You will:

• Design Cloud-Native Architectures: Define the end-to-end technology architecture for solutions, with a focus on scalable, secure Azure-based cloud applications, ensuring alignment with product design and business goals. 


• Lead Innovation from Ideation to Delivery: Drive new opportunities from concept and Proof of Concept (PoC) through to full product delivery. Provide technical leadership during ideation, prototyping, and implementation of solutions, especially leveraging Azure cloud services for rapid deployment and testing. 


• Multi-Domain Integration: Navigate and integrate across different domains – data architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and DLT (blockchain) – to create cohesive solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, data engineers, platform architects, business analysts) to ensure all components (data pipelines, API services, cloud resources, blockchain nodes, etc.) fit together seamlessly. 


• Technical Partnership & Advisory: Act as a technology partner for business teams, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions. Provide guidance on leveraging cloud and emerging tech during exploratory phases.


• Influence & Collaboration: Influence architecture decisions across multiple teams and tribes, even in ambiguous or evolving project environments. Ensure solution designs align with enterprise standards and industry best practices, coordinating with Enterprise Architects and other Solution Architects for consistency. Facilitate discussions in design workshops and architecture boards to gain buy-in.


• Overcome Complex Challenges: Remove technical blockers and solve complex problems that span various systems (legacy and modern). Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting, applying a pragmatic 80/20 approach when perfect solutions are impractical. 


• Technology Evangelism: Evangelise the benefits and assess the risks of emerging technologies for Euroclear’s context, with a focus on maintaining competitive advantage. For example, articulate the potential of blockchain/DLT for post-trade processes or the value of cloud-native architectures in reducing time-to-market. 


• Continuous Innovation & Trend Monitoring: Stay informed on industry trends, new tools, and key players in fintech and cloud computing. Anticipate opportunities (e.g. a new Azure service or a new fintech API standard) and threats (e.g. disruptive competitors, evolving security risks) to proactively suggest strategic technical directions.

Skills & Experience

You are an accomplished solution architect with a blend of technical expertise across domains and strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for:

• Proven Cloud Architecture Experience: Demonstrated experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure (or similar cloud platforms). You have led architecture of complex cloud applications or migrations, and understand cloud services, deployment models, and best practices for high availability and security. (Azure certification, e.g. Azure Solutions Architect Expert, is a plus.) 


• Multi-Domain Knowledge: Strong knowledge spanning data architecture, API design/integration, cloud infrastructure. Knowledge on Distributed Ledger Technology is a big plus. You understand data pipelines and storage design, RESTful and event-driven APIs, and can evaluate how to combine these in solution designs. 


• Microservices & DevOps Expertise: Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and containerization. You are comfortable with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying services, and you design systems for scalability and resilience. Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code) and tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform) to streamline delivery is expected. 


• Emerging Tech Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for emerging technology trends and innovation. Expertise or strong interest in technologies such as DLT/blockchain, AI, machine learning, and API ecosystems is highly valued. You continually learn and experiment with new tech, assessing their practicality for enterprise use cases.


• Architectural Frameworks & Methodologies: Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and agile delivery models. You can balance longer-term architectural vision with the iterative delivery of Agile projects. 


• Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Conceptual and creative thinking skills to see the big picture and design innovative solutions. You can recognise patterns and apply existing solutions in inventive ways to new problems. Your analytical problem-solving skills enable you to structure complex issues and identify pragmatic solutions that deliver results.


• Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You can engage and influence stakeholders at all levels – from engineers to business leaders – and explain complex technical concepts in clear business terms. You are a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, adept at negotiating decisions and driving consensus towards the best outcomes. You also mentor and guide development teams to ensure understanding and adherence to the architecture.


• Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. You handle multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and remain focused on delivering value. You are proactive in removing your own blockers and helping the team navigate uncertainty.

Additional assets: Knowledge of post-trade financial market infrastructure (e.g. CSD, settlement, and custody systems) is a plus, as is experience with large-scale digital transformation in a financial industry context. Such domain experience helps ground our innovative solutions in real-world business realities.
