About the Role
We are seeking a Unix/Linux Support Analyst to manage and support Linux and AIX server environments. The role emphasizes system stability, security, performance tuning, and integration with enterprise monitoring solutions across both on-premise and cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, and maintain Linux and AIX servers;
- Apply OS updates, patches, and security hardening baselines;
- Monitor system health (CPU, memory, I/O, filesystem) and respond to alerts;
- Perform patching and kernel updates within maintenance windows;
- Troubleshoot authentication issues (SSSD, PAM, LDAP, Kerberos) and sudo policies;
- Manage backup solutions and perform regular restore testing;
- Track end-of-life systems/packages and plan upgrades or migrations;
- Manage SSH keys, certificates, and secure configurations;
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues (load, IOPS, network, memory);
- Maintain documentation (runbooks, CMDB, asset data);
- Coordinate with network and storage teams (bonding, VLANs, multipath);
- Tune monitoring systems to reduce alert noise;
- Support application teams with dependencies and package management;
- Enforce security policies (file permissions, SELinux/AppArmor);
- Participate in disaster recovery exercises and validation;
- Provide operational KPIs and reporting.
Requirements:
- Strong experience with Linux (RHEL, Oracle Linux) and/or AIX administration;
- Knowledge of system components (systemd, LVM, filesystems);
- Shell scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting;
- Experience with authentication systems (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD);
- Familiarity with backup and restore tools;
- Understanding of AIX LPAR restore (RootVG and filesystem backups) is a plus;
- Basic networking and storage knowledge (bonding, VLANs, multipath);
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning;
- Familiarity with endpoint security tools on Linux;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Good documentation and communication abilities.
