Do you want to work on some of the most high-profile infrastructure, utility, and urban development projects in the industry? Are you an engineer with several years of experience within UK water sector wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including projects delivered for UK water companies then, this is the place to apply your knowledge and curiosity to enable a better tomorrow.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

To help us shape the green transition and strengthen our team within water and drainage, we are looking for Senior/Principal Water/Drainage/Utilities Engineer to join our team and play an important role in creating the solutions of the future. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues globally on some of the most sustainable projects.

This role will support the delivery of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for major UK water companies under frameworks such as AMP programmes. Experience of working to UK water industry standards, client specifications and regulatory requirements is essential.

Furthermore, on a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across all phases, from feasibility and outline design to detailed design and construction support.

  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring integrated design delivery across wastewater networks, pumping stations, storm overflows, SuDS, treatment works, and associated civil infrastructure.

  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, programme adherence, and alignment with UK water industry standards, CDM Regulations, British Standards, and Eurocodes.

  • Mentor and guide design teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, technical excellence, and effective use of digital delivery tools such as BIM, 3D modelling, and common data environments.

  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, ICA, and civil/structural disciplines while supporting risk management, change control, value engineering, and NEC-based contract delivery.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development activities, including proposals, presentations, and collaborative framework engagements.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you have:

  • Master’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering with 10+ years of experience in the water industry, including at least 3 years in a design leadership role.

  • Strong experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure/non-infrastructure projects within design environments, preferably for UK water companies, consultants, or contractor design partners.

  • Good understanding of UK water industry frameworks, AMP programmes (AMP7/AMP8), and relevant regulatory and design standards including Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA SuDS Manual, CDM Regulations, British Standards, and industry guidance.

  • Experience in hydraulic design, drainage design, utility coordination, and use of relevant industry software tools would be advantageous.

  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with fluent spoken and written English.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards chartership with a recognised institution such as Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), is desirable.
