Job Description - Summer Internship - Software Engineer

Description

Kick‑start your software engineering career by working on the TiVo-powered operating system for Smart TVs at Xperi. Join a real product team in Warsaw hub and help build the software and infrastructure that runs on millions of TVs worldwide.

When: This is a summer internship July - end of September

Where: Office based - Xperi, Skyliner, Prosta 67, 00-838 Warsaw

What you’ll do:

Work with experienced engineers on real production code used in the TiVo Smart TV platform.
Contribute to software that runs close to the operating system, not only applications.
Understand how a Smart TV OS is built, integrated, delivered to real devices.
Learn how software is developed in a large-scale, multi-team environment, balancing performance, stability, security, and maintainability.
Get hands-on exposure to Linux-based systems, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
See how your code moves from source control to a working system on a TV.
Learn modern software engineering practices in an Agile, international team.
Have fun, learn a lot, and build a strong foundation for your future career!

What we expect (mandatory):

Programming knowledge in at least one of the following languages:

C++ (modern C++ standards is a huge plus)
C
Python
or similar system-level languages.

Currently studying (typically 3rd year or later) Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Enjoy problem-solving, understanding complex systems, and learning how things work “under the hood”.
Ability to work and communicate fluently in English.
Curiosity, motivation, and willingness to learn beyond university coursework.

Nice to have (but not required):

Interest in operating systems, embedded systems, platform software, or infrastructure development.
Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
Any exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g. Docker, Jenkins, Gerrit, GitHub, Zuul).
Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Salt).
Understanding software development, packaging, and large-scale deployment.
Experience using work management tools like Jira, Confluence, or Office 365.
