Assistant Quantity Surveyor

OCS are currently recruiting for a specialist RC Frame and Groundworks subcontractor that is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a major Data Centre project in Portugal.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS with a minimum of 1 year's civils experience who is looking to develop their career while gaining valuable international project experience.

The Role
Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, you will support the commercial management of significant groundworks and reinforced concrete packages on a major Data Centre development.
Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with the commercial management of groundworks and reinforced concrete packages

* Preparing and reviewing applications for payment

* Measuring works completed on site

* Assisting with valuations, variations and change control

* Supporting subcontractor and supplier account management

* Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting

* Reviewing drawings, specifications and scope of works

* Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

* Working closely with site management, project management and the client team

* Supporting the Senior QS with commercial and contractual matters

The Candidate
We're looking for an Assistant QS who has:

* At least 1 year's experience within civils/construction

* Experience or exposure to groundworks, RC, structural concrete or infrastructure projects

* A commercial degree

* A good understanding of construction measurement and commercial processes

* Strong numerical and analytical skills

* Good IT skills, particularly Excel

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* A proactive and commercially minded approach

* The flexibility and willingness to work on an international project in Portugal
