Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Cardiac Sonographers to join the Cardiac Investigations Team at Northern Health.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospital and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


This position provides high quality, patient-centred cardiac ultrasound services in accordance with professional standards, legal requirements and Northern Health policies and procedures.


 


The cardiac Sonographer is accountable for delivering safe, effective and timely cardiac diagnostic services while contributing to a culture of teamwork, continuous quality improvement and excellent patient outcomes.


 


This role is responsible for:



  • Delivering high quality, patient-focused cardiac ultrasound services in line with professional standards.

  • Assessing patients and planning, implementing and evaluating appropriate care within scope of practice.

  • Managing a complex caseload with limited supervision.

  • Maintaining accurate, clear and timely patient documentation.

  • Communicating effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Recognising and escalating changes in a patient’s condition to appropriate clinical staff.

  • Participating in quality improvement, safety and accreditation activities.

  • Supporting Northern Health’s commitment to patient-centred care, cultural safety, child safety and clinical governance.


 


To be successful in this role you will have:



  • Bachelor’s degree in medical imaging, applied science, health science or equivalent.

  • Post graduate qualification in cardiac sonography.

  • Relevant clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound.

  • Current Registration with the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR) (required).

  • A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong communication, organisational and clinical assessment skills.

  • A current National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
