About Seamoretech
Seamoretech develops and deploys proprietary technology that transforms industrial brines and wastewater desalination streams into recovered criticalminerals and treated water. We are moving from first industrial commissioning into repeatable deployment, with real customers, proprietary technology and a clear need to scale execution with discipline.
The role
We are looking for a senior COO to lead the operational scale-up of Seamoretech. This is a hands on leadership role for someone who has delivered complex physical operations, managed multidisciplinary teams and translated commercial commitments into reliable technical, financial and operational execution.
The COO will work directly with the founders and will be accountable for building the operating system that allows Seamoretech to move from first deployments to repeatable, margin-conscious delivery across customers, suppliers and industrial sites.
Role & expected outcomes - first 12-18 months
•Lead the first industrial deployments and commissioning activities, ensuring delivery against scope, timing, budget, safety and customer expectations.
•Establish repeatable operating processes, SOPs, project governance and execution cadence for industrial scale-up.
•Structure supply chain, procurement, supplier qualification and supplier management for critical equipment, materials and services.
•Translate commercial commitments into reliable delivery plans, including scope, responsibilities, interfaces, risk allocation and change control.
•Create clear visibility over CAPEX, OPEX, project economics, cash impact and margin at project and company level.
•Build the operations team, decision routines and reporting discipline required to scale from first units to multiple deployments.
•Support customer, supplier and partner negotiations, ensuring that contractual commitments are operationally deliverable and financially sound.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with proven experience in physical operations, industrial delivery, engineering-led environments or infrastructure-like projects. The strongest candidates may come from scale-ups, industrial companies, utilities, engineering businesses, manufacturing, water, environmental technologies, energy, chemicals or adjacent sectors.
Experience in a startup or scale-up is valuable. We are equally interested in candidates who have built a new operation, project, product line or business unit from scratch inside a larger corporate or industrial environment, where budget discipline, execution reliability and stakeholder management were critical.
Core capabilities
•Operational execution & commissioning: Has launched, commissioned or scaled a physical operation, plant, unit, industrial system or complex field deployment.
•Industrialisation & repeatability: Can turn one-off delivery into repeatable processes, SOPs, project governance and measurable operational improvement.
•Financial ownership: Has managed budgets, CAPEX/OPEX trade-offs, project economics, unit economics or P&L-relevant decisions.
•Commercial execution & contract negotiation: Has participated in negotiations with customers, suppliers or industrial partners, including pricing, scope, delivery terms, responsibilities, risks and change management.
•Team leadership: Has built, led or scaled multidisciplinary teams across operations, engineering, procurement, project management or customer delivery.
Valued experience
•Water, wastewater, brine treatment, desalination, environmental technology, utilities, mining, chemicals, manufacturing or industrial engineering exposure.
•Experience with customer-facing delivery, commissioning, service operations or complex B2B industrial projects.
•Experience with procurement, supplier negotiations and external contractor management.
•Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting or board-level operational updates.
•Portuguese and/or Spanish market knowledge; broader European industrial experience is also valued.
What we will ask you to demonstrate
•Execution & Commissioning: Demonstrated experience in launching, commissioning, or significantly improving a physical operation, industrial project, facility, or site deployment. (Core)
•Industrialisation: Ability to design and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operational routines, delivery processes, and measurable operational improvements. (Core)
•Commercial Execution / Contract Negotiation: Direct involvement in pricing strategy, scope definition, customer and supplier negotiations, delivery terms, responsibilities, risk management, and contract change management. (Core)
•Management: Experience managing CAPEX, OPEX, project economics, budgets, margins, unit economics, and profit & loss related decision-making, ideally within hardware or industrial environments. (Core)
•Startup, Scale-up or New-Build Environment: Experience working in high-growth businesses or building new operations, business units, projects, or industrial facilities from the ground up. (Core)
•Team Leadership: Proven track record of building, leading, and developing operational, engineering, project, or delivery teams, ideally within a fast-growing environment. (Core / Valued)
•Industrial Network: Established relationships across industrial ecosystems, including customers, suppliers, EPC contractors, utilities, and environmental, water, or engineering stakeholders. (Valued)
•Fundraising / Investor Relations: Ability to communicate operational progress, key milestones, and risks to investors and other investment stakeholders in a clear and structured manner. (Valued)
Location and working model
The role is based in Porto and requires regular in-person presence with the founders, team, suppliers, customers and industrial sites (at least 3 times on-site).
We are open to candidates who can commit to frequent travel to Porto and to the operational rhythm required by the role.
The location model will be discussed transparently during the process, but this is not a remote-first position.
What we offer
•Competitive base salary aligned with the seniority and operational scope of the role.
•Performance bonus linked to clearly defined operational, financial and delivery milestones.
•Direct exposure investors, customers and strategic partners.
•The opportunity to build the operating backbone of a deeptech industrial company at a critical inflection point.
•We turn what industry discards into what the future needs. Join us to build the operations that make it scalable.
