Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse to join the Cardiology Ward 15/Coronary Care Unit team.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


This role offers an experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care while progressing in leadership and professional development. As a Grade 2 RN, you will be accountable for delivery of quality patient care and outcomes in a manner consistent with the professional code of conduct, legal requirements and organisational policies and procedures, within a framework of continuous quality improvement, and economic resource utilisation. This position allows you to act as a mentor and resource person, contributing to professional development and quality improvement initiatives.


 


This role is responsible for:



  • Delivering safe, responsive, and patient-centred care in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

  • Monitoring, assessing, and managing critical ill cardiac patients using advanced clinical judgement.

  • Supporting professional development, mentoring less experienced staff and students, and participating in succession planning opportunities.

  • Engaging in quality improvement projects and innovations to improve patient care outcomes.

  • Actively contributing to a positive team culture and supporting organisational strategic priorities.

  • Ensuring compliance with safety, risk, and clinical governance frameworks, including mandatory immunisation and workplace safety requirements.

  • Promoting a culture of safety, continuous learning, and patient-centred care.


 


To be successful in this role you will have:



  • Experience and good working knowledge of Cardiology and Coronary Care nursing.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care - Cardiac or equivalent.

  • Excellent clinical assessment, decision-making, and patient management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and role-model professional behaviour.

  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and organisational values.

  • Ability to commit to 7-day rotating roster (including Night Duty).

  • Confidence in escalating concerns and troubleshooting challenges.

  • A commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement in healthcare.

  • Motivation to contribute positively to team culture and patient experience.
