General Ledger Accountant
We are looking for a General Ledger Accountant who brings relevant industry experience. We want to see highly diligent candidates with strong interpersonal skills and a pragmatic approach to drive things forward. The person will be based in the HeiQ Iberia office in Moreira da Maia, Portugal.
Book accounting documents to ensure all transactions are properly recorded, including analytical accounting information.
Assist in maintenance, processing, and production of month/year end close processes (accruals, reclassifications, adjustments, etc).
Prepare monthly financial reports to consolidation on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Conduct monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews and reconciliations.
Record and reconcile bank transactions.
Maintain and monitor fixed asset transactions and depreciation postings.
Ensure intercompany transactions are recorded, reconciled, and settled properly.
Revaluate foreign currency (FX) transactions.
Collaborate closely with AP, AR, Treasury, and Controlling teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
Collaborate with external accounting providers regarding statutory requirements, especially VAT and other tax-related filings.
Collaborate with external payroll service providers and tax consultants.
Assist in implementing new accounting tools and process improvements.

A high level of self-responsibility, initiative and willingness to perform highly.
Hands-on.
Strong team spirit and communication skills.
Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities and deadlines.
Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications.
An Excellent team player with the ability to interact with different departments
Fluent in English speaking & and writing (mandatory).
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure
Education & Certification
Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Management.
Certified Accountant by the Portuguese Order of Certified Accountants is a plus.
Experience & Technical Skills
5+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting, ideally in a multinational or Shared Services environment.
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modelling).
Language & Soft Skills
Fluent in English (mandatory); German is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
Ability to collaborate with teams across multiple geographical locations.
Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement.
