A welcoming and supportive setting where you can develop and make a real difference in the world – that’s what you’ll find at COFRA. We’re a family business, geared to creating lasting value and united by an ambition to change industries and society for the better. Aspiration and entrepreneurism are encouraged and rewarded with opportunity. Teams are diverse yet close-knit. Relationships matter. People matter.

What we can achieve together

One of our greatest strengths is our people: talented, dedicated professionals who are true experts in their field, committed to the pursuit of excellence and open to new opportunities and ways of capturing them.

We're looking for an experienced Junior Divisional Controller to join our COFRA team in Porto. You will join a multi-generational family business with a commitment to achieve systemic change across Liveable Cities, Responsible Capital, Clean Energy and Sustainable Food together with our management teams and mission-aligned external partners.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to oversee and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of financial reporting across business divisions while providing strategic financial guidance to top management. Additionally, it supports strategic decision-making, integrates new businesses into the financial framework, and facilitates cash repatriation, ensuring financial coherence across the group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end closing, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and data quality.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as local and international accounting standards.

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborating with other departments to gather financial data and provide insights.

  • Coordinating activities between business units and the Group to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and decision-making.

  • Managing cash repatriation across different businesses.

  • Supporting the integration of new businesses into the Group’s financial reporting framework.

  • Communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrating extensive practical knowledge of IFRS reporting.

  • Showing a strong ability to translate business processes and requirements into technical specifications.

  • Possessing strong technical capabilities given the broad range of assets and risks to be managed.

  • Demonstrating extensive practical knowledge of compliance and regulatory principles.

  • Possessing thorough IFRS knowledge.

What You Bring

  • 3–6 years of experience.

  • Experience in finance and accounting, preferably in an international environment.

  • Practical experience with international and local accounting standards and their application (IFRS).

  • Understanding of tax and legal matters and how they interconnect.

  • Project management skills, combining technical expertise with leadership capabilities.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial processes and underlying system landscapes.

  • Expert-level practical knowledge of Office 365 applications (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent), preferably in Finance or a related field.

  • Proficiency in financial software, systems, and processes.

  • OneStream system experience (preferred).

  • English: Required.

What we offer you in return

The opportunity itself is a great way to have a direct impact on the Group and realize potential across a multitude of areas.

COFRA offers notable benefits, including a competitive pension plan. Also, training and development is provided to all COFRA employees.
