Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapist Grade 4 to join the Broadmeadows Community Care Unit.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


This role requires for an Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 5 years' experience, to provide clinical leadership to the program and play a key role as part of the senior leadership team in the development of rehabilitation and recovery services into an integrated service delivery system which meets the needs of consumers.


 


This is a Part Time fixed term position covering parental leave until end October 2027.


 


This role is responsible for:


 



  • Provision of targeted evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions such as action over inertia, sensory modulation, driving support, vocation and group work

  • Coordinating the delivery of therapeutic group program at BCCU, aiming to provide opportunities for engagement over 7 days of the week  

  • Providing support to the new graduate occupational therapist and supervision of occupational therapy students

  • Undertaking primary and secondary key clinician role as required


 


 


To be successful in this role you will have:


 



  • Experience and good working knowledge supporting the recovery with consumers experiencing enduring mental health conditions. 

  • Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate groups for consumers with complex needs 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions including sensory modulation, functional capacity assessments and supporting engagement in meaningful occupations. 

  • Experience in supervising and supporting occupational therapists. 

  • Ability to work with consumers, family and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services. 

  • Well-developed skills in writing and an ability to promptly prepare appropriate documentation for assessments, interventions and other forms of documentation.
