Northern Health are seeking applications from a motivated and suitably experienced Grade 3 Physiotherapist to join the Northern Health Physiotherapy department.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

The Grade 3 Physiotherapist has responsibility for the organisation, implementation and supervision of Maternity, Pelvic Health and Continence Physiotherapy care in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Through their clinical expertise they will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care, promotion of quality, education of staff and students, team and program development.  

Areas of work may include Obstetrics and Gynaecology inpatients and outpatients, as well as a general male and female pelvic health caseload, including pelvic pain.  

Through their clinical expertise the Senior Clinician will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care, promotion of quality, education of staff and students, team and program development. The successful candidate will be a flexible, team player who has an ability to assess, manage and advise on complex Maternity, Pelvic Health and continence related pathologies. Responsibilities include managing a varied caseload in the inpatient and outpatient setting and acting as a clinical resource and mentor for junior staff and students.  Whilst this role will be primarily responsible for delivery of physiotherapy to patients in the maternity service, this role will also provide cover for planned leave across the broader pelvic health physiotherapy team.  

This role is fixed term part-time 48 hours/week, covering maternity leave until August 2027. Job share considered.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A background which includes significant clinical experience resulting in a high level of skill in Maternity, Pelvic Health and Continence physiotherapy including men’s health and bowel management  


• Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills  


• Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative in developing and promoting clinical care  


• Demonstrated sound clinical skills based on practice wisdom  


• Demonstrated ability to lead and promote evidence-based practice  


• Possesses practical negotiation and conflict resolution skills  


• Demonstrated leadership within a multidisciplinary team and promotion of interprofessional practice  


• Experienced in supervision of junior physiotherapy staff and/or Allied Health Assistants  


• Experience in the management and education of undergraduate physiotherapy students
