SAP S4H Data Lead

Key mission 

The SAP S4H Data Lead is a key role within the SAP S/4HANA implementation program for Belgium and Italy.

The jobholder leads the data workstream and is accountable for the coordination, planning, extraction, and availability of data coming from existing systems.

This includes close collaboration with the system integrator (Capgemini), Core Model teams, local IT, business stakeholders, and technical experts.

The mission covers the full data extraction and preparation lifecycle—ensuring quality, completeness, and timeliness—while supporting transformation and load teams with source-system expertise.

The role also provides occasional advisory support on the P2P domain within the current SAP ECC6 environment.

Main challenges

▪ Define and execute the full data extraction strategy in alignment with the overall SAP S/4HANA migration plan, program timelines, and Sodexo’s Data Centricity principles.

▪ Coordinate all entities involved in providing source data: local IT teams, business experts, technical teams, and the integration partner.

▪ Manage dependencies, prerequisites, and constraints related to legacy data extraction across multiple systems and countries.

▪ Ensure the completeness, quality, consistency, and timely availability of extracted data for each migration cycle.

▪ Provide expert-level understanding of legacy data structures, especially in P2P processes, to resolve anomalies, gaps, and issues arising during transformation or loading.

▪ Support alignment with SAP Core Model standards while managing country-specific complexities and exceptions.

Main activities

A. Leadership of Data Extraction Activities

▪ Plan, coordinate, and oversee all data extraction activities from existing systems.

▪ Define prerequisites, dependencies, constraints, and quality requirements for source data extraction.

▪ Ensure availability of high-quality, complete, and validated data extracts according to migration cycle

deadlines.

▪ Coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in providing source data.

▪ Establish and maintain data governance policies and quality standards.

B. Contribution to Migration Cycles (Transformation and Load Not in Scope)

▪ Prepare and transmit extracted datasets to migration teams.

▪ Analyse source data structures, anomalies, specificities, and provide clarifications to transformation

and load teams.

▪ Participate in workshops and technical exchanges regarding migration objects.

▪ Support issue resolution related to discrepancies identified during transformation or loading stages.

▪ Conduct detailed validation and reconciliation activities to ensure accurate migration results.

C. Interface with the Integrator (Capgemini)

▪ Act as the primary counterpart for all matters involving legacy data understanding and extraction.

▪ Provide the integrator with all required documentation, insights, and clarifications to support

transformation and processing of data.

▪ Contribute to joint problem-solving for blocking issues across migration cycles.

▪ Collaborate on tool selection and implementation for extraction, transformation, and loading.

▪ Oversee mapping from legacy data structures to SAP S/4HANA core model objects.

▪ Collaborate with business owners to define data requirements, improve data quality, and execute

cleansing or enrichment.

▪ Support UAT and other testing phases through data preparation and validation.

▪ Document all data mapping, transformation rules, and extraction approaches.

D. Coordination and Reporting

▪ Organize operational coordination across business teams, IT teams, technical contributors, and the

integration partner.

▪ Maintain structured monitoring of progress, risks, dependencies, and corrective actions.

▪ Provide regular reporting to program and project management, highlighting risks and successes.

▪ Identify opportunities for improving processes, automation, and data reliability.

E. Contribution to the Deployment Kit

▪ Create and maintain documentation, templates, and methodological guides related to data extraction

activities.

▪ Contribute to the global deployment kit to enable smooth and accelerated roll-out for future country

deployments.

▪ Ensure reusability of processes, templates, and best practices.

F. Occasional P2P Support in ECC6 (Outside the S/4HANA Program)

▪ Provide expert advisory support on P2P issues within the current SAP ECC6 system.

▪ Conduct diagnostics, root-cause analyses, and propose recommendations.

▪ Support local teams in resolving incidents or inconsistencies involving P2P processes.

▪ Offer functional expertise without operational involvement in migration tasks.

Accountabilities

Deliver a consolidated, repeatable, and compliant data extraction and migration framework aligned

with Sodexo’s Data Centricity model and S/4HANA deployment strategy.

▪ Ensure high-quality data is available on time for each migration cycle, enabling successful

transformation and loading activities.

▪ Act as the primary point of contact for all data-related topics concerning source systems, extraction, and quality.

▪ Contribute to the deployment kit to accelerate future rollouts.

▪ Support the resolution of P2P-related issues in ECC6 when required.

Person Specification

Experience & Technical Competence

• 5–7 years of experience in data management, migration, or governance, preferably in SAP environments.

• Minimum 3 years leading SAP S/4HANA migration cycles.

• Strong experience with ETL tools, extraction frameworks, and SAP migration methodologies (SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW, SAP Data Services, etc.).

• Deep understanding of SAP data structures across Finance (FICO), Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), and Supply Chain.

• Hands-on experience coordinating multi-country data extraction activities.

• Knowledge of P2P processes within SAP ECC6.

• Ability to translate complex source-system logic into clear requirements for migration teams.
