Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Senior Alcohol and other Drugs, Mental Health Clinician to  join the Addiction Psychiatry and Toxicology (APT) service, Northern Mental Health Division.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About  Mental Health Division:  

Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.

Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.

We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services. 

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist to join the Addiction Psychiatry and Toxicology (APT) service at The Northern Hospital Epping .

This is a part-time, fixed-term job share position covering long service leave until 2 June 2027, working Monday to Wednesday (0.6 FTE). 

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Substantial experience and good working knowledge of Alcohol and other Drugs and Mental Health treatment interventions.


• Demonstrated skills in the principles and practice of working with people with mental health and co-occurring substance use /addiction problems.


• Substantial post qualification experience (5-7 years) across a range of clinical mental health and or AOD clinical programs.


• Formal post-qualification training or certification in drug and alcohol treatment and/or addictive behaviours is highly desirable.


• Act as a role model, provide effective leadership, communication and collaboration.


• Demonstrated capacity for initiative and an ability to work appropriately with limited direction.


• Current National Police and Working with Children History Check.


• A current Victorian Drivers licence
