Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Senior Social Worker to join Ward 7 – Women’s Mental Health Unit.


 


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


 


About the Role:


 


This role requires an experienced and compassionate Senior Social Worker who is passionate about supporting women experiencing acute mental health challenges and complex psychosocial needs.


 


This role is responsible for providing advanced psychosocial assessment and interventions, discharge planning, family and carer engagement, accommodation and community liaison, advocacy, and leadership within the social work team. The successful applicant will also provide supervision and support to junior staff and students while contributing to service improvement, trauma-informed practice and multidisciplinary care planning.


 


 


To be successful in this role you will have:


 



  • An approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers

  • Extensive senior clinical experience within mental health and/or acute inpatient settings

  • Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and family-inclusive practice

  • Proven ability to undertake complex psychosocial assessments and provide advanced social work interventions

  • Strong knowledge of mental health, family violence, social disadvantage, system navigation and relevant legislation

  • Experience supervising and supporting staff and students

  • Highly developed communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and high-quality consumer-centred care

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence


 


Desirable:



  • Postgraduate qualifications in social work, family therapy or related fields

  • Experience within women’s mental health and/or acute mental health inpatient services

  • Knowledge of single session family consultation models
