Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated Grade 2 Social Workers to join the team at Broadmeadows. This is a fixed term part time position (32 hours per fortnight) until October 2026 – covering maternity leave.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
The Grade 2 Social Worker will be accountable for providing quality patient care through the application of competent clinical skills in assessment, planning, implementation of treatment and management. The role is a part time fixed term position providing Social Work services on a GEM (Geriatric Evaluation and Management) unit at Broadmeadows Hospital. The successful applicant may also be required to work on other wards as clinical demand and skill mix requires.
The Social Worker will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Social worker will respond to inpatient referrals as required and provide psychosocial assessments and interventions to patients and their families. This role will require flexibility to be able to provide efficient responses to referrals combined with other non-clinical components such as providing education to staff, innovation and quality improvement, participating in relevant meetings, and contributing as a member of the Subacute Social Work team.
Staff may be required to travel and/or work across the sites of Northern Health. Staff may also be required to rotate to other campuses and rotate into other grade-appropriate discipline positions.
