Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join the Ward 20 team.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


This role requires a highly motivated nurse leader with a keen interest in Respiratory & Medical Nursing to lead a 32-bed ward in an Associate Nurse Unit Manager position.


 


Ward 20 is a dynamic and busy 32-bed unit caring for patients under the Respiratory and Medical specialties. It is a fast-paced and challenging environment that offers a wide scope of learning opportunities and experiences within a supportive team culture. Ward 20 provides a very high standard of care that aligns within Northern Health values of Safe, Kind, and Together.


 


This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care and leadership within one of Northern Health’s busiest and most complex wards. As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to the extended nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. You will act as a positive role model, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and a supportive environment that encourages excellence.



To be successful in this role you will have:


 



  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience post registration

  • Previous leadership experience as ANUM or Nurse in Charge role

  • Ability to work rotating roster (Morning, Afternoon, and Night) across all shifts and days

  • Must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal including sound conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the principles of access management and effective patient flow

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principals of both Management and Leadership

  • Actively demonstrates and promotes the Northern Health Values of Kind and Together

  • Follows legislation, policies, guidelines and codes of conduct applicable to the role and has extensive understanding

  • Postgraduate Nursing Qualification or equivalent is highly desirable
