Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Critical Care (Emergency) Registered Nurses to join the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) team at Mernda Community Hospital.  


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


 


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


The Critical Care (Emergency) Registered Nurse is an experienced clinician accountable for the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within the Urgent Care Centre, in accordance with professional standards, legal requirements and Northern Health policies and procedures.


 


This role is responsible for:


 



  • Delivering safe, effective and responsive nursing care across the patient journey.

  • Undertaking comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation.

  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support patient flow, timely care and safe discharge.

  • Escalating clinical concerns appropriately and responding to changes in patient condition.

  • Contributing to quality improvement, safety initiatives and clinical governance requirements.

  • Supporting a culture of teamwork, respect, learning and continuous improvement.

  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with organisational standards.

  • Acting as a professional role model and supporting students, graduates and less experienced staff as required.


 


To be successful in this role you will have:


 



  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.

  • Postgraduate Qualification in Critical Care – Emergency Nursing.

  • Demonstrated experience as a Critical Care Registered Nurse, within an Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting.

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work a rotating roster including day, evening and weekend shifts.
