Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Specialist clinic team.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


The Specialist Clinics Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides advanced clinical leadership and operational support across designated specialty portfolios. Working closely with medical, nursing and administrative teams, the CNC ensures safe, efficient and patient‑centred care, drives service improvement, and acts as a key clinical resource within Northern Health’s Specialist Clinics. 


 


Key responsibilities include:



  • Provide advanced clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient and patient‑centred care across specialist clinic portfolios.

  • Complete nurse‑led triage and coordinate nurse‑led clinics to support timely access and appropriate patient flow.

  • Lead service improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic development within Specialist Clinics.

  • Support waitlist management through clinical audits, data review and effective prioritisation.

  • Act as a senior clinical resource for staff, patients and stakeholders, providing guidance, education and operational support.

  • Develop, review and implement clinical policies, guidelines and care models to promote evidence‑based practice and quality outcomes.


 


To be successful in this role you will have:


Essential



  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, preferably five years post-registration experience.

  • Advanced clinical assessment, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills


 


Desirable:



  • Project management skills and strategic thinking.

  • Highly developed ICT skills, comprehensive working knowledge of Northern Health software (CPF, iPM, EMR, Excel, Q Flow)

  • Experience and good working knowledge of Specialist Clinics Access Policy
