 Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Psychologist Grade 2 to join the NCCU team.


 


Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.


 


Services are provided through our six main campuses:


Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.


 


About the Role:


 


The Northern Community Care Unit (NCCU) provides a 24-hour community based residential rehabilitation program to people who experience long term serious mental illness and disability.  The CCU is a therapeutic environment in which rehabilitation programs are tailored to meet individual resident needs.  The residents are people who require high levels of clinical support and intensive rehabilitation to support their mental health and daily living.


 


The role of the Psychologist is to work within a multidisciplinary team, provide mental health assessment, psychological assessments, intervention and psychotherapy to identified consumers and to work collaboratively with families/carers and community partners.


 


 


This role is responsible for planning and facilitating therapeutic groups, and also provide consultation to other members of the team, work with the leadership group and allied health to review, implement and evaluate the NCCU group program. In addition, holding a relevant portfolio may be required.


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Participate in individual professional supervision (from the appropriate discipline senior) and annual discussions, and seek support, assistance, training and debriefing as required.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment and a collaborative team atmosphere.

  • Provide discipline specific and generalist services in line with professional standards, code of conduct and the code of ethics.

  • Contribute to Community Care Unit & discipline specific quality improvement & evaluation activities.

  • Provide mentoring, supervision and support to psychology students as appropriate in conjunction with the area senior psychologist.
