SR. SYSTEMS ENGINEER (SUPPORT & DB) Primary Purpose of Job

Senior System Engineer (DB) develops Programs, Projects and Services within the Information Systems Division to identify, analyze and evaluate the overall business and IT requirements for creating, maintaining and optimizing Database services, Systems and Technology Architecture for IT asset lifecycle optimization for on-premise and in the Cloud.

Education

A minimum of bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or a related Engineering field.

Experience & Skills

1. Minimum 10 years of progressive and direct related experience including at least 5 years of Azure Cloud, in large scale enterprises preferably in Energy Sector.

2. Current Industry professional certifications in Database Technology (Microsoft, Oracle) for on-premise & Cloud.

3. Hands-on Database experience in managing MSSQL Server 2019+, MS Azure SQL/Managed Instance PaaS & on Windows in complex large-scale enterprise platforms and Oracle 19c+ on Linux platform. Experience in Managing Cloud databases is a must.

4. Hands-on experience in other relational Databases (such as Postgres or MySQL) and non-relational Databases (such as MongoDB or Cosmos DB).

5. Experience in data virtualization implementation and its platform management.

6. Design and implement highly available Database solutions using high availability patterns for scalability and stability on-premise and Microsoft Azure.

7. Design and manage containerized deployments, ensuring scalability and reliability, working with container orchestration, securing Docker containers, and integrating with cloud services.

8. Experience in Database budgeting and licensing/subscription models.

9. Experience in advanced secure database configurations; including TDE (At-Rest encryption), SSL In-Motion encryption, Authorizations, Identity & Access Management (IAM) controls, Audit logging, etc.

10. Plan and implement database backup and Disaster Recovery per corporate business continuity strategy.

11. Install, configure and upgrade database management systems and software including clustering environment.

12. Refine and automate including applying knowledge of using Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and other tools for administrative management purposes.

13. Optimize DB systems for ETL & Data visualization to achieve business needs in line with the Data analytics strategy.

14. Work closely with data engineers, solution architects, developers, data scientists, and other professionals to manage operational aspects of data platform solutions.

15. Prior experience in systems architecture, ability to troubleshoot complex systems, hands on experience with different systems and database backup & recovery concepts.

16. Experience in disaster recovery and high availability implementations and their setup.

17. Experience in data analysis, entity-relationship modelling, troubleshooting and documentation of system functions and processes.

18. Experience in managing and executing multiple high value Projects on time and within budget.

19. Experience in structuring and implementing systems integration using industry standard technology.

20. Strong awareness of current trends in database technology, systems development lifecycle methodology and metadata management.

21. Expert knowledge Microsoft Office and other office productivity applications such as Microsoft Project and Visio.

22. Demonstrates a commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Operates independently using mature judgment in planning and performing assignments and achieving defined objectives.
