Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Aide, under the supervision of SPD Senior Technicians, will perform a variety of functions related to the care and handling of sterile supplies and instrumentation, decontamination, and processing of sterile supplies, according to established policies and procedures. S/he also assist the SPD staff where required with daily activities under direct supervision.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Dispatches and transports sterile instruments and sets to OR cores A & B, 3rd Floor C-Section, Anesthesia Clean Storage, IR, and Cath lab using proper Tdoc template and scanning process.
- Dispatches and transports sterile instruments and sets to other departments within the hospital using proper Tdoc template and scanning process (NICU, PICU, L&D, Postpartum, OPC clinics, etc.)
- Assists in sorting of rigid containers, trolleys, and case carts prior to loading to the cart washers.
- Unloads instruments, containers, case carts, and trolleys from the washers/disinfectors and cart washer.
- Responds to hospital’s units’ requests for collection of used instruments and delivers to the decontamination for processing.
- Assists the SPD core technicians.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment in line with infection control standards.
- Escalates any issues and concerns to SPD Coordinators and management.
- Assists in the restocking of SPD consumables in working stations as required or as instructed by the coordinators and area leads.
- Demonstrates an understanding and performs basic infection control procedures correctly, e.g.
- Hand hygiene
- Environmental Cleaning
- Understands and maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Takes responsibility for any conflicts in personal and work schedules by making alternative arrangements in collaboration with the SPD team.
- Attends and contributes at staff meetings as required,
- Represents the department and the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Develops and sustains own knowledge, skills and professional awareness and maintains a professional profile.
- Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the shift coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
ESSENTIAL PREFERRED Education Diploma in relevant field Healthcare Assistant/Medical Assistant program graduate
Experience 2+ years of relevant experience 6 months+ relevant healthcare experience in a Pediatric or Women’s Hospital preferably in Middle East
Certification and Licensure No Licensing Required

- Demonstrated ability to self-roster using the computerized Time and Attendance and Staff Scheduling system.
- Manual Handing proficiency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Spoken knowledge of Arabic language would be an added advantage
