We provide care for sick and premature infants, including infants with cardiac and surgical conditions. We are looking to recruit dynamic, motivated neonatal nurses who have at least 5 years clinical experience in a tertiary level medical / surgical NICU with proven leadership skills, to join our exceptional team of Clinical Nurse Leaders.The Clinical Nurse Leader demonstrates clinical expertise, strong leadership and collaborative skills in interactions with staff and members of the healthcare team. The Clinical Nurse Leader supports the Clinical Nurse Manager in leading, precepting and mentoring the nursing and midwifery staff as clinical expert in a unit/service. The Clinical Nurse Leader is a key member of the interprofessional team and ensures that standards for nursing and midwifery care are adhered to at unit/service level while working within an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for shift coordination, patient flow, patient experience and resource allocation. The incumbent demonstrates problem solving, conflict management and service recovery skills to serve as a role model and change agent. The Clinical Nurse Leader is professionally accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer.KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:Leadership/People ManagementMakes day to day decisions regarding unit operations that impact safety, quality and efficiency in the provision of patient care.Participates in the role of supervisor for assigned employees, contributing to the employee performance appraisal cycle, and objectively assists with action plans arising from appraisals as necessary.Supports the selection, development and retention of all staff.Role models’ professional behaviors and appearance in line with Sidra policies, procedures, and Sidra Values.Promotes a quality learning environment for students, interns and nurse residents, and is actively involved in teaching and developing staff.Role-models patient experience principles, provides service recovery, and identifies opportunities to improve the patient experience.Collaborates with leadership in the response and resolution of patient and family feedback, and leads on initiatives to enhance and optimize the patient and family experience.Professionalism and Ethical PracticePractices within the DHP Scope of Practice according to licensure within the State of Qatar.Independently maintains licensure and regulatory requirements (e.g., life support certifications and CPD requirements).Demonstrates accountability for patient’s activities and communication during shift.Communicates effectively and clearly with patients and families including the use of approved tools such as SBAR.Supports effective discharge and follow up planning in collaboration with families.Supports and promotes the evaluation of learning needs patients and families and facilitates patient and family education.Teamwork and CollaborationProvides shift supervision and guidance to staff in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator and clinical nurse facilitator.Coordinates with Clinical Site Management Team on patient bed assignments.Facilitates patient flow and coordinates patient’s activities and communication during shift.Acts as a resource for staff/team members offering guidance and support, and providing accurate and timely feedback when necessary.Actively monitors nursing/midwifery workload and patient acuity within the unit to ensure optimum patient safety.Coordinates daily administrative and clinical duties including schedules, nursing/midwifery assignments and patient care.Evidence Based PracticeAdheres to and promotes dissemination, use, monitoring and review of Sidra’s Nursing and Midwifery Standards of Practice.Demonstrates clinical competency by delivering evidence-based care.Provides education and is actively involved in the competency management of staff.Monitors staff practice for adherence to policy, procedures, guidelines and standards in collaboration with the unit manager.Challenges the delivery of care which is not evidence based and supports remediation appropriately.Actively encourages, participates and/or leads in unit-based simulation activities.Quality ImprovementIdentifies patient care issues and/or ways to improve and positively impact on the quality of care and patient outcomes.Works with others to affect change and produce positive outcomes through sharing of knowledge and information.Contributes to the achievement of effective utilization of resources.Facilitates and leads quality and performance improvement activities to ensure organization, service and unit KPI’s are achieved.Identifies cost efficiencies and/or leads initiatives to reduce cost.Participates in, promotes and facilitates unit based Shared Leadership initiatives.Contributes to the audit process and the submission of administrative documentation relating to Nursing and Midwifery key performance indicators.Actively participates/leads in activities related to organization accreditation including MOPH, JCI, Magnet and others as required.SafetyEnsures safe and high-quality patient care during shift through appropriate and equitable allocation of work based on patient acuity and skill mix.Leads on identifying safety issues in their area of work, resolving and/or escalating appropriately.Ensures reporting of and leads in the investigating of incidents and near misses using the organizational error reporting system.Oversees and monitors appropriate delegation of tasks within the unit/area of expertise.Observes and manages nursing care duties and tasks including the administration of medication.Responds and intervenes appropriately in emergency situations and takes immediate action.InformaticsRole models correct use of IT systems, including confidentiality and data protection.Demonstrates a high standard of documentation in the patient EMR and acts as a resource for staff.Maintains competence in accessing and usage of all IT systems including appropriate downtime procedures.GeneralAdheres to
