Job Description - Construction Manager - with Growth Opportunities

Set up to take advantage of energy investment opportunities created by the global growth in demand for electricity and water, the company is an active player in the evolving global power industry, pioneering future energy solutions through its long-term investments.Job Summary:The incumbent will be responsible to execute and deliver the project (in different stages of development or construction) that are undertaken by the project. Ensure quality and timely execution of the projects within estimated costs in line with the project agreements and in line with the business plan of the project. Ensure that the rights of shareholders under relevant agreements for the project are protected and followed up accordingly. The incumbent will also be responsible to liaise with and provide suitable inputs to shareholder teams to carry out the due diligence, preparation of bids, transition to operational phase etc. for all projects.Requirements:Business Acumen:Demonstrate clear understanding of the important factors behind successful delivery of projects.Display a good understanding of the regulatory and legal requirements in the construction and development field in various CCGT power plant technologies and in multiple geographies.Take leading role in understanding of external & internal environment (economic, political, social, competitive, and regulatory factors) and ensure that the same is captured in business planning process. Also make sure that the same is reflected in financial & non-financial KPIs.Understand competitor strategy, product/service offerings and key differentiators.Utilize industry information to improve business performance.Stay abreast of competitive practices and environment, seek ways to create new areas of competitive advantage for the business.Drive for Results:Continually raise performance standards and the bar of expectations.Endeavour for superior performance and take personal accountability to meet deadlines in rapidly changing ambiguous environment & unfavourable conditions.Managing Relationships:Build relationships and establish credibility as a trusted advisor for colleagues and other stakeholders.Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):Responsible for all aspects of the development/execution/construction of the project at different stages of development or construction, like:Land acquisition and related matters,Permitting and licensing (environmental, construction, operational etc.),Construction, testing and commissioning,Manage contractors etc. at all levels,Compliance with local and international regulatory requirements in quality, safety etc.Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring the projects to compile and present reports to the management.Establish and maintain good, collaborative working relationships with project company senior staff and shareholder representatives.Participate and/or review-comment on the management and execution EPC contracts, OE Contracts etc, claims management and contract close out.Advise company management regarding construction challenges, unusual risks, and/or threats to value of the facilities in Asia as these become known.Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.Support a high safety conscious working environment on the construction sites through any potential initiative and follow up on compliance with all company and legislative Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.Ensure successful and smooth transition and handover of projects to shareholder asset management teamEnsure that the shareholders are updated with the latest status on the projects.Alignment with organizational vision and values:Drive organization's vision and values across the division.Decision Making:Take suitable decisions with limited information and under ambiguous situations.Take unpopular and tough decisions in the interest of the organization.Resource Planning & Execution:Structure Division/departments and organize work; establish priorities; anticipate resources needed and allocate resources when planning the work of others.Education/Experience Requirements:University degree in Engineering with emphasis on Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Power from a recognized university. Additional degree in Business Administration is preferred.Minimum of 15-20 years of construction experience in thermal power plants. Experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants is preferred.At least five years’ experience in line management.Experience from working on international projects / different countries.Required Special Skills:Ability to develop, measure, maintain and evaluate construction schedules for large thermal projects, experience with Primavera beneficial.Substantial knowledge of engineering and construction practices, functions and processes involved in the design and construction of Combined Cycle Power Plants.HSE leader with a comprehensive understanding of H&S Culture and application of safety and best practices in the design review and process safety reviews.Knowledge of risk management techniques.Good leadership skills proven in a multicultural environment.Knowledge of typical legislation associated with construction sites.Ability to motivate and guide people through a complex project.Framework and Boundaries:Company’s overall strategic planApplicable policies and proceduresDelegated and re-delegated authorities as per the delegation of authority structureCommunications and Working Relationships:Frequent contact and direct reporting line to Chief Executive Officer to provide progress updates, resolve issues and receive higher approval where necessary.Contact with Shareholders, regulators, Owner’s Engineer, EPC Contractor and external legal consultants.Please Note: Should you not receive a response from Chetty & Sinnett Recruitment within 5 working days of your application please consider it unsuccessful. #J-18808-Ljbffr
