In this role, you will be working in our Operations Department (Planning and Stevedoring), supporting Al‑Awalia’s port operations by ensuring efficient bunker operations, maximizing throughput, and contributing to optimal vessel turnaround times.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Adherence to quality, health & safety, information security, and business continuity policies.
- Support bunker operations to ensure efficient discharge and handling of bulk materials.
- Achieve maximum discharge volume per crane and per ship working hour.
- Coordinate and communicate with Supervisors, Foremen, and Signalmen on operational activities, delays, and equipment downtime.
- Operate bunker equipment in compliance with instructions and operational procedures.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working condition before and during operations.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, ensuring zero tolerance for incidents and adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor operations and report any performance issues or abnormalities.
- Contribute to improving terminal productivity, vessel turnaround time, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the stevedoring team to ensure smooth and continuous operations.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager.
About you
For you to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:
- Certification as a Bunker Operator is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in port operations.
- Good command of the English language.
- Strong understanding of port operations and stevedoring activities.
- Good knowledge of dry bulk materials handling.
- Familiarity with operational equipment used in port environments.
- Awareness of Qatar and GCC operational and business environments.
- Strong attention to safety, procedures, and operational efficiency.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration abilities.
- Strong planning and execution skills with a focus on achieving operational targets.
- Professional attitude with integrity and commitment to safety standards.
