Job Description - Clinical Nurse- Pediatric Emergency

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS– SELECTION CRITERIA Education: ESSENTIAL: •Bachelor Degree in Nursing (4 years) or Diploma in Nursing• (3 years after graduation from high school (12 years)• Registered Nurse PREFERRED:Post graduate certificate inspecialty if applicable in country of origin Experience: 2+ yearsof recent clinical nursing experience within the relevant specialtyfrom a highly esteemed healthcare institution. Certification andLicensure: ESSENTIAL: • Valid professional Nursing licensein country of origin • Meets licensing requirements of theState of Qatar Job Specific Skills and Abilities: •Excellent team player • Motivated and enthusiastic• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite •Fluency in written and spoken English KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:Professionalism and Ethical Practice • Practices withinthe DHP Scope of Practice according to licensure within the Stateof Qatar • Provides total individualized patient care andassumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning,implementing and evaluating care, discharge planning for eachpatient. • Ensures timely documentation of care, dischargeplanning and family education aligned to Sidra standards ofdocumentation • Demonstrates critical thinking skills byproblem solving appropriately during patient care •Independently initiates escalation of issues following the chain ofcommand, utilizing resources as needed • Independentlymaintains licensure and regulatory requirements (e.g. life supportcertifications and CPD requirements) • Meets requirementsof organizational, profession and departmental/role specificorientation competencies • Role model’sappearance and behaviors that promote a positive image of nursing• Adheres to time and attendance requirements •Participates in new staff/student orientation, assists inmaintaining a suitable learning environment and acts as apreceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching of newstaff/students to develop their competence. • Activelyparticipates and/or contributes the Shared Leadership structure topromote and embed Shared Leadership • Assumesresponsibility for own professional development through lifelonglearning to ensure continued competence and performance improvementPatient and Family Centered Care • Provides holistic,patient and family centered care based on evidence and bestpractice • Anticipates and responds to patient and familycare requirements • Evaluates learning needs of patientand/or family and provides patient and family education •Maintains confidentiality at all times Teamwork and Collaboration• Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignityand respect at all times • Promotes and maintainseffective communication and teamwork • Demonstratescollaborative and respectful behavior • Contributes to apositive work environment Evidence Based Practice •Adheres to Sidra’s Nursing and Midwifery Standards ofPractice • Ensures care is based on best evidence• Incorporates credible critically appraised evidence intonursing practice and when initiating change Quality Improvement• Identify ways to improve services through qualityimprovement initiatives • Participates in qualityimprovement initiatives and measure outcomes • Contributeseffective use of resources and identifies any opportunities forefficiency Safety • Acknowledges own limitations inknowledge, judgment and/or skills, and functions within thoselimitations. • Seeks resolution in knowledge andcompetency gaps to ensure patient safety is maintained at all times• Demonstrates consistent and reliable use of technologyand standardized practices that support safety and quality• Communicates observations or concerns related to hazardsand errors to patients, families and the healthcare team •Uses organizational error reporting systems for near miss and eventreporting • Demonstrates effective use of strategies toreduce risk of harm to self or others • Assumesresponsibility and accountability for own clinical decision,delegation and provides supervision to team members according totheir competence and scope of practice Informatics •Accurately, concisely and appropriately documents care,interventions and outcomes in a timely manner • Practicescontemporaneous documentation, ensuring entries into the medicalrecord are recorded and signed in real time • Utilizesdata from the patient record to make decisions and respondsappropriately to clinical decision-making supports and alerts• Protects confidentiality of protected health informationin electronic health records • Follows all Hospitalrelated policies and procedures. • Performs other relatedduties as assigned. • Adheres to Sidra’sstandards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict ofInterest policies • Adheres to and promotesSidra’s Values This job description forms the basis ofthe requirements for the role.
