Newton British Academy – Barwa City is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced EAL (English as an Additional Language) Secondary Teacher to join our successful and growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  Deliver high-quality EAL support and intervention programmes for secondary students.

  
  


• 
  

  Assess students' English language proficiency and identify individual learning needs.

  
  


• 
  

  Plan and deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Support students in accessing the mainstream curriculum across a range of subjects.

  
  


• 
  

  Work collaboratively with subject teachers, pastoral staff and parents to ensure student success.

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records and reports.

  
  


• 
  

  Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, events and school initiatives.

  
  


• 
  

  Promote inclusion, wellbeing and high expectations for all learners.

  
  

Requirements

• 
  

  Bachelor’s Degree in English, Applied Linguistics, Education or a related field.

  
  


• 
  

  Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, QTS or equivalent).

  
  


• 
  

  Experience teaching EAL students within a secondary school setting.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of language acquisition and effective EAL teaching strategies.

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse international environment.

  
  


• 
  

  Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  
  

Desirable

• 
  

  Experience working within the British Curriculum.

  
  


• 
  

  Previous experience in an international school setting.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience supporting students with varying levels of English proficiency across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
