Job Title: EPRS Specialist
Tasks and Duties:
- Plans, organizes, and directs the EPRS Program development and continues enhancements to ensure readiness to complete pipeline repairs when required at the minimum feasible interval.
- Identify and close gaps in current QG EPRS tools and procedures, including evaluating the technical usability / inter-compatibility.
- Drive development of structure database and LL and enhance the EPRS program related reporting.
- Establish, maintain, control, and frequently report the status of different EPRS program components including the studies, activities, budget, plans, and compliance / KPIs.
- For effective readiness, the specialist will take a leading role in establishing:
- Good awareness of the design, operation, limitations, and uncertainties of the QG Pipeline under management and related EPRS tools.
- Requirements for EPRS related manuals, procedures, and studies.
- Frequent reviews and updates of the Damage Assessment Study/ Reports and EPRS Manuals, etc. to ensure a practical approach is being followed.
- Sufficient fit-for-purpose Inventory of Equipment, Tools, and Material including spares, for different potential scenarios.
- Support development and update of Operational, Pipeline Shutdown, Isolation, Depressurization and startup Procedures for different scenarios.
- Assure the Service providers readiness via frequent drills Desktop Mockup and capturing of the LL for follow-up on the enhancements.
- Positive influence and engagement with the Projects to drive the early startup of the EPRS development activities for new pipelines.
- Assure the Key contracts are in place, Established, valid, and effectively administered, to manage the Key Activities for potential credible QG Pipelines incidents and conduct frequent audits and manage enhancements. This includes:
- Call-out contracts/framework agreement(s) for inspection, pigging, isolation, repair, marine spread, vessels, personnel, construction spread, project management, engineering, decommissioning, and recommissioning, etc.
- Requirements to achieve effective availability of fit-for-purpose marine spread and related service contracts for different phases.
- Service agreement contract for storage, preservation, and maintenance of spares and intervention tools.
- Plans and organizes regular inspections for the EPRS tools.
- Oversee establishing a ready to engage dedicated team with a variety of skills, to assure the Inhouse readiness on a clear technical basis and structured and accurate database.
- Continue supporting the developing QG team skills, knowledge, and raising awareness and capabilities.
- Drive team thorough understanding of EPRS basis of the study & recommendation.
- Driving focus and quality of handling the topics.
- Active interface and collaboration with all relevant departments, for the timely detection and rapid 1st response, including:
- Frequent discussions and engagement with SPI team for alignment on suggested harmonization and potential enhancements.
- Conduct regular meetings with EPRS Equipment Manufacturer, the EPRS club, and the Industry.
- Assume a leading role in liaising with QatarEnergy EPRS Club and supporting the synergies between the EPRS club members, and driving the enhancement of the capabilities in managing the CRA cladded PLS.
Work Contacts:
Contact with SPI Engineers, Operations and Maintenance team on a frequent basis to plan and coordinate engineering studies and repair requirements. Frequent outside contacts with Offshore Operations, EPRS Engineering, Tools service provider, Contractors, Qatar Energy EPRS club members and team, etc.
Independence of Operations:
Works within established structures, procedures, engineering standards, and methodologies developed and implemented by the Engineering Department. Completed work is subjected to review. Recommends proposed solutions to engineering problems within the area of expertise and recommends the most appropriate course of action to managers. Completed work is subjected to review. Has a degree of freedom in the execution of his function, with events and activities driving performance.
Supervisory Responsibility:
No direct reports. Directs the activities of contracted companies (Engineering, Offshore contractors, isolation, decommissioning, and recommissioning, suppliers, storage and preservation, inspection, and pigging).
Physical Effort:
Once weekly on the site for site visits, warehouse activities, clubs audit, etc. 10% - Standing, Walking, climbing and working during site visits.
Work Environment:
Once weekly on the site for site visits, warehouse activities, clubs audit, etc. 10% - Non-air-conditioned and offshore environment exposed to heat, humidity, noise.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. This position requires an individual with at least 12-15 years of experience in various aspects related to upstream offshore oil & gas pipelines, and with hands-on experience and strong exposure to the Offshore Pipelines EPRS development and management. The candidate should possess experience in offshore project management and in subsea pipeline construction/installation engineering and subsea pipeline design and have the experience of working offshore for pipelaying, riser installations, decommissioning, and recommissioning, pipeline repairs in shallow water. He should have wide knowledge of support vessels, ROV, diving and pigging and preferably be familiar with tendering preparation and technical and commercial evaluation.
