External Audit - Audit Associate/Sr Associate

JOB LOCATION: Doha, Qatar

Grant Thornton Qatar's External Audit department is rapidly growing. And we are looking for dynamic candidates to work in the Audit department of our Doha office. The candidate will have the opportunity to work as a team member on diverse client engagements as part of our local practice which includes international/multinational companies. For decades, Grant Thorntons assurance professionals have been helping clients improve their performance through the most challenging business cycles.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in and/or independently perform statutory and external audit engagements, depending on experience level.
• Execute audit procedures including risk assessment, internal control evaluation, and substantive testing in accordance with IFRS and International Standards on Auditing.
• Prepare audit working papers, financial statements, and draft reports; and review work of junior team members where applicable.
• Coordinate with clients to obtain audit evidence, clarify audit issues, and communicate findings under supervision or independently based on role level.
• Support audit engagement planning and execution; take ownership of assigned sections or complete engagements as experience allows.
• Ensure audit deliverables are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
• Stay informed about updates to IFRS, auditing standards, and relevant laws and regulations applicable in Qatar.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the audit function.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualifications.
• 1–7 years of experience in external audit; position level will be determined based on experience and technical assessment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, and Qatar regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal teams.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and handle multiple audit engagements simultaneously.
• Prior experience with Big 6 accounting firms is preferred, with experience at Grant Thornton considered an advantage.
• Locally available candidates in Qatar with transferable sponsorship (iqama) are preferred.
