University invites applications for a Full -Time Research Assistant position in
Geotechnical Engineering under a competitively funded research project
supported by QRDI. The role is suited to a highly motivated candidate with
strong experimental, analytical, and numerical modelling capabilities, who can
actively contribute to advanced
geotechnical research activities.
· Independently perform advanced geotechnical
laboratory testing
· Ensure laboratory testing is conducted in
accordance with relevant standards and best practices.
· Analyse experimental results, interpret soil
behaviour, and provide technical commentary and recommendations.
· Identify testing or data -related issues and take
corrective or improvement actions when required.
· Contribute to the modification and optimisation
of laboratory testing procedures.
· Perform numerical modelling and analysis using
PLAXIS 2D.
· Prepare high -quality technical and research
reports, including data interpretation and discussion.
· Support literature reviews and contribute to
research outputs linked to project objectives.
· Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary
research team while maintaining a high level of independence.
· Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a strong
Geotechnical Engineering background.
· Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (highly
preferred).
· Demonstrated hands -on experience with
triaxial (UU, CU, CD) and direct shear testing.
· Experience in laboratory data analysis and
interpretation.
· Working knowledge of PLAXIS 2D.
· Strong technical writing, documentation, and
reporting skills.
· Ability to work independently, manage laboratory
activities, and meet project deadlines.
· Research -oriented mindset with strong attention
to detail.
· Experience working in experimental research
laboratories.
· Strong problem -solving and decision -making
skills.
· Good communication and teamwork abilities.
