About the job
In this role, you will be working in our Operations (Maintenance & Logistics – Transportation) Department, supporting Al‑Awalia’s logistics activities by ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of materials across internal and external locations.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Adherence to quality, health & safety, information security, and business continuity policies.
- Operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Deliver cargo from ports to Al‑Awalia yards and across designated sites, including intercity routes.
- Load and unload materials and ensure accurate recording of the type and quantity of cargo delivered.
- Plan routes using maps or tracking systems to ensure timely deliveries.
- Drive long distances while maintaining focus on safety and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, deliveries, and daily activities.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips and report any defects or issues.
- Ensure trucks and associated equipment are clean and in good working condition.
- Monitor road conditions and traffic situations to avoid delays and ensure safe transportation.
- Report incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues promptly to supervisors or dispatchers.
- Follow proper procedures in case of accidents or emergencies.
- Coordinate with foremen, other drivers, and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to teamwork and support departmental people development initiatives.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager.
About you
For you to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:
- Valid Heavy Driver’s License (Multiple License required).
- High school qualification preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar heavy driving role.
- Ability to read, understand, and speak English sufficiently to follow road signs and instructions.
- Strong knowledge of Qatar and GCC traffic laws and regulations.
- Good awareness of logistics and transportation operations.
- High level of responsibility, safety awareness, and reliability.
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with professionalism and integrity.
- Goal-oriented approach with a commitment to following procedures and achieving timely deliveries.
