About the job:
In this interesting role you will be working in our Operations Department, within the Maintenance & Logistics – Workshop sub-department.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Adherence to quality, health & safety, information security and business continuity policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other machinery used in operations.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Inspect equipment to assess condition, identify wear and tear, and detect potential issues before failure.
- Test repaired and serviced equipment to ensure it meets required performance standards and safety requirements.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs, and component overhauls to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Manage and organize tools, spare parts, and materials required for maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure the availability of tools and spare parts and coordinate with procurement for replenishment when required.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the workshop and ensure tools and equipment are stored safely after use.
- Stay updated with the latest repair techniques, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with workshop staff and other departments to support operational requirements.
- Contribute to people development initiatives within the department.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager as per business requirements.
About you:
For you to be successful you will need to have the following:
- High School Diploma in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems of heavy equipment.
- Hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, repairs, and component overhauls of heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Skilled in the safe use of workshop tools, testing equipment, and basic welding or fabrication techniques.
- Good understanding of safety standards and maintenance best practices within heavy equipment operations.
- Good command of the English language is preferred.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, and customer-focused mindset.
