HSSE officer

Job Summary:

The HSSE Officer is responsible for promoting, implementing, and monitoring Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures on offshore installations. The role ensures compliance with industry regulations, company standards and promotes a safe working culture in high-risk offshore environments such as platforms, rigs, or vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor daily offshore activities to ensure compliance with HSSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  

• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and HSSE training sessions for offshore crew and contractors.
  

• Inspect work areas, equipment, and procedures to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  

• Participate in and lead incident investigations; prepare reports and follow up on corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  

• Monitor Permit to Work (PTW) system; verify compliance for high-risk activities (e.g., confined space, hot work, working at height).
  

• Ensure proper use of PPE, adherence to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), and emergency response readiness.
  

• Liaise with offshore management, safety committees, and shore-based HSSE teams.
  

• Conduct risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and safety drills (e.g., fire, man overboard, evacuation).
  

• Assist with environmental protection measures, including spill prevention, waste handling, and marine protection policies.
  

• Maintain HSSE documentation, records, and prepare daily/weekly reports for submission to the head office.
  

Requirements

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  

• Minimum 3–5 years of HSSE experience in offshore operations (oil & gas, marine construction, or similar).
  

• Certified in NEBOSH IGC or equivalent recognized health and safety qualification.
  

• Offshore survival certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET, STCW Basic Safety Training) – mandatory.
  

• Familiarity with international safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code).
  

• Strong knowledge of offshore work practices, risk management, and emergency response.
  

• Excellent communication, observation, and incident reporting skills.
  

• Experience working in multicultural, remote, and high-pressure environments.
