Acts as liaison between theRange Department and range users in execution of the Range andAgriculture Program. Monitors and participates in a range ofmanagement activities that include; livestock check-outs,construction and maintenance of resource improvements (fencing,spring developments, juniper removal), community and highwayfence-line inspections and livestock/horse removal.
Willauthorize livestock checkout, as a regular part of the job and willmaintain proper documentation and records. Will also participate incertified brand inspection courses as directed.
Skillfulworking with, rounding up, and trailer loading livestock whilefollowing proper protocols and safety measures.
Requirements
Mustbe experienced in riding horses and operating off-road vehicles.History of experience building and repairing fencing. Skills mustinclude; operating a chain saw, using post drivers, fencing tools,and associated hand held equipment. Must be orderly and organizedand ensure equipment is maintained and safety procedures followed.
Musthave good public relations with tribal members, grazing groups,co-workers, and visitors. Must work well with others and will oftenwork alongside wildlife biologists, range specialists, andrestoration crews performing resource improvements.
Mustbe in excellent physical condition as the job is primarily fieldwork, often traversing over rough terrain and during inclementweather. Valid Drivers Licenserequired. Drug testing with random drug testsperformed throughout employment. Tribal member preference. Mustsubmit and pass a criminal background check with Federal, Tribaland State Law Enforcement.
