Evolution Sports Qatar is seeking aPerformance and Development Coach to coach and develop elite swimmers within the Evolution Sports Academy.

Job Description

Primary Objective of Role: 

To coach and develop elite swimmers within the Evolution Sports Academy, focusing on achieving competitive excellence and fostering a high-performance environment.

Responsible to: Academy Swim Coordinator, Elite Swimmers Programme 

Reports to:  Head of Elite Swimming Development.

Accountability and Responsibilities:

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students:

• Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students that the Class Teacher comes into contact with.
• Incorporate the school’s vision, mission and core values into normal working practice.
• Follow the reporting procedure contained in the Child Protection Policy with regard to raising concerns about the welfare of any student.
• Act in accordance at all times with the school’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to, the Standards of Conduct Policy, Health, Safety, Security and Environment Policy and the Human Resources Policy Manual.
• Ensure that the School Nurse is made aware of any medical problems a student may have.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Elite Coaching:

• Design and implement advanced training programmes tailored for elite swimmers, aiming to enhance their technical skills, physical fitness, and competitive performance.
• Conduct detailed performance analyses and use data-driven approaches to inform training adjustments and strategies.
• Prepare swimmers for high-level competitions, including national and international meets, ensuring they are psychologically and physically ready.
• Work closely with sports scientists, nutritionists, and strength and conditioning coaches to develop comprehensive support plans for each athlete, addressing their specific needs for optimal performance and recovery.
• Identify potential talent within the academy and devise individualised development pathways to nurture elite swimmers.
• Foster a culture of excellence, resilience, and continuous improvement among athletes.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Maintain effective communication with swimmers, parents, and the wider coaching team, providing regular updates on progress and plans.
• Collaborate with the club's management and other departments to align the elite programme's objectives with the club's overall strategic goals.
• Represent the club at meetings, conferences, and seminars related to elite swimming development.
• Ensure all training sessions are conducted in accordance with the highest standards of safety and in line with governing body regulations.
• Manage the logistical aspects of attending competitions, including entries, travel, and accommodation.
• Contribute to the annual review and planning of the elite swimmer’s programme, setting objectives and key performance indicators.

Professional Development:

• Keep abreast of the latest coaching methodologies, competitive strategies, and sports science research relevant to elite swimming.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, including coaching clinics, workshops, and certification courses.
• Mentor and support assistant coaches and volunteers within the elite programme, promoting a collaborative and learning-focused environment.

Special Conditions:

• Flexibility to work outside of traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends and travel regularly for competitions.
• Regular travel to competitions, both nationally and internationally, is required.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

• A recognised high-level swim coaching qualification (e.g., Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 3 Coaching Award or equivalent (E)
• A degree in sports science, coaching, or a related field is highly desirable (E)
• Up to date first aid, safeguarding, and CPR certifications (E)
• Additional qualifications related to sports psychology, nutrition, or strength and conditioning (D)

Experience:

• Extensive experience coaching at an elite level within a swimming academy or club (E)
• A track record of developing swimmers to achieve national and international success (E)
• Experience in planning and executing high-performance training programmes (E)
• Experience with international swim meets and competitions (D) 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, training methodologies, and performance analysis tools (E)
• Strong leadership skills (E)
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of inspiring and motivating elite athletes (E)
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-performance setting (E)
• Proficiency in performance analysis software and technologies (D)
