JOB OBJECTIVE
Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations through process optimization and process improvement efforts throughout company facilities. Identify and develop process improvement opportunities to bring value to company operations and facilities. Drive process optimization initiatives in order to enhance operational efficiency.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Optimization Engineer
- Analyze existing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Participate in long-term studies to improve & enhance plant performance and resolve major plant problems.
Identify opportunities for standardization and harmonization of processes across multiple departments or locations.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to process optimization and evaluate their potential application in the organization.
- Ensure the application of leading market trends and practices by the Process Engineering team during the study phase of new concepts and processes.
- Perform predictive modelling simulations to optimize process performance and reliability.
- Evaluate plant economics, including cost of chemicals, catalyst, feed, and product pricing, and develops options for optimum plant operation.
Process Analysis and Improvement
- Provide process support to benchmarking and technology exchange data collection and presentation efforts.
- Propose and oversee the various process optimization solutions from the conceptual to the design phase to ensure they are fit for purpose for optimum plant operations.
- Perform conceptual engineering services for the Assets, Process Studies (DBN, Brownfield and Greenfield) to increase production as applicable.
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Develop strategies and plans to optimize and streamline processes, including proposing workflow changes and implementing new technologies.
- Lead the development of Gap Closure Plans to identify and prioritize gaps from Solomon, Townsend, and other benchmarking Reports to improve Process Units Performance.
- Participate, provide inputs, evaluate recommendations from PHA and investigations and assist the process to ensure their timely implementation and meeting safety standards.
- Oversee the implementation of process changes, working closely with cross-functional teams and coordinating resources.
Training and Collaboration
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to management, summarizing process optimization initiatives, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Participate in the in-house knowledge-sharing initiative by attending and presenting relevant topics.
- Provide training and support to employees involved in optimized processes, ensuring understanding and effective contribution.
Innovation and Cost Analysis
- Perform cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the financial impact of proposed process changes and justify investments in optimization initiatives.
- Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to improve processes and drive operational efficiency.
Standardization and Benchmarking
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including management, production teams, and quality control, addressing concerns and maintaining effective communication.
- Establish synergy and partnership with Universities, QatarEnergy, Research & Development centres, vendors, and others to assess new growth opportunities.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
- Manage the development and implementation of departmental policies, systems, processes and procedures in order to ensure operational excellence.
- Identify and manage the implementation of improvements to ensure compliance with company’s standards and regulatory and operational excellence requirements that are aligned to business needs to increase operational effectiveness.
- Recommend and manage the development and implementation of environmental policies, procedures, programs, standards and guidelines as needed and in alignment with Operational Excellence, monitoring and reporting requirements, and applicable regulations and permits.
Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across the Department to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Identify potential risks and hazards associated with process optimization and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. Participate in safety and environmental programs to promote a safe and sustainable work environment.
- Ensure that process optimization initiatives align with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead engineering efforts to eliminate Process Safety and Personal Safety Events through engineering design and Lead engineering efforts in reducing the environmental impact.
Reporting
- Generate comprehensive reports on process optimization activities, including data analysis, findings, and recommendations.
- Communicate process improvement results and share best practices with stakeholders and management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement reporting mechanisms for process optimization.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to the Process Engineering Superintendent on the status of process optimization initiatives.
- Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately to meet the Department and Customer requirements.
- Keep records of units’ documentation history by regularly updating the Process Engineering E-Filing Folder.
Qatarization
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
Required : Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Preferred : Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Experience
Required : 5-7 years of experience in O&G Industry in Process Engineering.
Preferred : Experience in O&G and petrochemical industry.
