Job Description - Senior Application specialist

Job Title: Senior Application Specialist
Location: Qatar
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Senior Application Specialist is responsible for the implementation, support, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise applications. The role involves collaborating with business units to identify technology needs, ensuring system integrity, and delivering end-to-end application solutions. The specialist will also play a key role in managing system upgrades, integrating third-party tools, and enhancing user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and administration of enterprise and custom-built applications.

  • Provide Level 2/3 technical support and troubleshooting for application-related incidents and service requests.

  • Analyse and document business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve application functionality and performance.

  • Manage application lifecycle, including version upgrades, patch management, and decommissioning.

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure application compliance, data integrity, and security standards.

  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers for technical support and enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain documentation including user manuals, process workflows, and technical guides.

  • Train end-users and support staff on application usage and best practices.

  • Monitor application performance metrics and propose improvements.

  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning related to applications.

  • Ensure alignment with IT policies, standards, and governance practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in application support or implementation, preferably in a senior or lead role.

  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and/or industry-specific applications.

  • Experience with databases (SQL, Oracle), APIs, scripting, and system integrations.

  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Proactive mindset with a customer service orientation.

  • Leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior staff.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Preferred:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft Certified: Azure, Oracle Certified Specialist).

  • Experience in cloud-based application environments.

  • Prior experience in a similar industry or domain (e.g., healthcare, logistics, manufacturing).
