The Specialty Mechanical Instructor is responsible for the delivery of quality and effective training within their given specialty. Additionally, the role will support the creation and on-going development of the relevant specialty engineering program. The Instructor/Assessor will deliver a range of training modules, across the Specialty Engineering program, driving student success. The Instructor/Assessor will assess learner performance, through formative and summative assessments and aligned to the relevant Technical In statue and City and Guilds policies and procedures. The Instructor/Assessor must demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Professional Development and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Technical Institute.
Key aspects of the Mechanical Instructor role include:
•Effective delivery of the curriculum in accordance with relevant policies and procedures within the TI.
•Ensuring the military students make good progress as measured appropriately, with timely interventions put in place as and when required.
•Supporting a culture of reflection, improvement and passion for teaching in the department with a can-do attitude whilst aligning to the Code of Conduct.
•Work collaboratively with engineering delivery team to provide students with the best chance of success.
•Regularly report student progress, attendance and behaviour to Speciality Program Senior Instructor/Chief Instructor.
•Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of students.
•Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations.
•Provide oral and written feedback to students.
•Adopt and maintain reasonable rules of classroom behavior and ensure they are consistently applied.
•Carry out administrative and record-keeping tasks within the Technical InstituteLearning Management System, ensuring all student data is capture andconfigured appropriately.
•Provide teaching cover in the event of unplanned absence of colleagues.
•Provide support to all students, throughout the learning journey within theTechnical Institute.
•To set and mark both formative and summative coursework, liaising with the theStandard and Examinations team as necessary and keeping reliable records ofscores achieved within the Learning Management System.
•Provide mentor support to selected instructors in terms of general teachingability.
•Where required and within SQEP, be prepared to assist in progressive coursedesign reviews, as well as any other appropriate duties as directed by linemanagement.
Requirements
Required:
▪Level 4 Qualification in Teaching & learning (inc. 90 hrs teaching practice)
▪Teaching/classroom experience.
▪Experience of apprenticeship training programs with international students.
▪Extensive aviation/military maintenance experience.
▪Experience in an aircraft apprentice training environment.
▪Robust understanding of Health and Safety requirements within classrooms and workshop environments.
▪Culturally aware with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
▪Ability to use learning technologies in the classroom and for students to access for self-study.
Desirable:
▪Familiarity with the DSAT/BSAT guidance for Education and Training.
▪2+ Years of training/teaching experience.
